We’re looking for an amazing Public Safety Operations Manager professional to fill this role, which is based in our Mt. McKinley Princess Lodge.  The Public Safety Operations Manager plays a crucial role in ensuring the organization’s adherence to safety, health, and security regulations. This position requires diligent monitoring, proactive encouragement, and the ability to challenge management to implement best practices and strive for continuous improvements in safety-related operations. The Manager will work closely with operational teams to identify and mitigate risks, ensuring the protection of employees and organizational locations. The ideal candidate should have relevant experience in security operations or law enforcement. They would also either possess an EMT certification or be committed to obtaining it. Furthermore, they should demonstrate a willingness to engage in ongoing education in the fields of security and health and have a robust understanding of relevant regulations and industry best practices. This role is vital for maintaining a safe and secure work environment, and the candidate’s expertise will be integral to fostering a culture of safety and compliance within the organization.

Here’s a summary of what Holland America Line and Princess is looking for in its Public Safety Operations Manager. Is this you?

Responsibilities

  • Provide initial medical response to onsite health incidents at Mt McKinley Princess Lodge and control scene until emergency medical services arrive from May through September.

  • Health Management: Oversee medical and public health incident response to ensure the health of guests and employees.                                                                         

  • Security Management: Manage physical perimeter security and work with other properties to enhance HAP security management                                                                   

  • Compliance Monitoring: Ensure compliance with safety-related regulatory requirements within the state of Alaska.

  • Oversee onboarding of seasonal security team members for multiple properties, including updating of training resources and policy documents. 

  • Lead by example by ‘respecting and protecting’ the health and safety of yourself and others.

  • Ensure your team and colleagues speak up and report all accidents, ‘near miss’ incidents, and work-related ill health conditions.

  • Attend HESS training and conduct risk assessments where required. 

  • Adheres to Corporate Policies and Procedures, including Code of Conduct, Audit Procedures and any control related responsibility for financial data entered, stored, or reported via business systems within employee’s control (list not exhaustive). 

Requirements

  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in facility security or a related security field, such as law enforcement. 

  • Demonstrated experience in emergency/incident response. 

  • Proficiency with Microsoft office and communications tools.

  • Current CPR/AED certification.                                                                        

  • Proven track record of developing and implementing safety procedures and compliance programs.

  • Experience in managing teams and conducting risk assessments.

  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.  Holland America Line/Princess is unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of employment visas at this time (e.g., H-1B status).
