In our continuous journey of growth and innovation within the Maritime Team here at Carnival UK, we are seekinga Technical Superintendent (Environmental)  to bring fresh insights and expertise to our department. 

Role Overview

In this role, you will work closely with the ship and shore team to optimise the availability of environmental equipment on board our ships, ensuring our equipment is well maintained and support contracts are effectively managed. You will use your background in applied and planned engineering to provide technical and compliance advice to shore teams in developing future strategy and alignment with Carnival Corporation Sustainability goals. 

You will work with the team to define and influence a fleet-wide strategy aimed at improving relevant KPIs, controlling environmental hazards, ensuring personnel are trained in operating the systems correctly, and evaluating the environmental impact of proposed maritime projects for the 11 cruise ships under the P&O and Cunard brands. 

You will also focus on the optimisation of environmental equipment and driving performance in line with Carnival Sustainability Goals.

Required Qualifications and Skills

  • This role is perfect for candidates who possess a bachelor's or higher degree in technical, science, or engineering fields (or equivalent), or have experience as a Senior Technical Officer on cruise ships. 
  • You should have expertise in operating, designing, or maintaining technical systems similar to those on cruise ships. 
  • Extensive knowledge of maritime regulations such as MARPOL, MEPC, SOLAS, Class Rules, and applicable statutory legislation is essential, along with experience in designing and managing various environmental protection plants. 
  • Additionally, a solid understanding of maritime vessel operations or significant knowledge of environmental processes and legislation is required. 
  • You will also support the operation of other technical assets as needed.
