Role Overview
Sitting within our Talent and Employee Experience team, this role will take ownership of Carnival UK’s people policy framework, ensuring our policies are legally sound, easy to understand and aligned with our organisational values and evolving ways of working. Reporting directly to the AVP, Talent and Employee Experience, you will work independently with stakeholders across the People function, Employee Relations, Legal and the wider business.
This pivotal role will involve:
- Leading the development, review and revision of people policies, balancing legal, commercial, cultural and operational considerations.
- Translating complex employment law and policy requirements into engaging, user-friendly policies, guidance and supporting communications.
- Managing policy governance, approval processes, publication, version control and audit trails to maintain a clear and reliable source of truth.
- Influencing stakeholders at varying levels of seniority, building consensus and providing confident guidance on complex or sensitive policy matters.
This role is positioned at CUK08 level within our organisation and is available on a full-time, permanent basis. This is an office-based position in Southampton.
What You’ll Bring
Your unique background and skills are what will make you stand out. We’re looking for:
- Strong employment law knowledge, ideally supported by at least two years’ experience within an Employee Relations or people policy role.
- Excellent policy drafting and communication skills, with the ability to turn complex information into clear, engaging and practical guidance.
- Experience managing policy development, review and governance, including consultation, approvals, publication and version control.
- Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills, with the confidence to navigate competing views and reach balanced, defensible outcomes.
About You: The Ideal Candidate
You are more than just your CV. You’re someone who brings:
- The confidence and independence to take ownership of your work and make sound judgements.
- A strong ability to influence and build credibility with stakeholders at different levels of seniority.
- Creativity in how you communicate policy and guidance, making information accessible and easy to apply.
- Excellent attention to detail, with the ability to manage complex information accurately while meeting deadlines.
You’ll be comfortable working in an environment where employment law, commercial priorities and colleague experience all need to be considered. You’ll bring people together, challenge constructively and create policies and guidance that are both legally robust and genuinely useful for colleagues and managers.
