The Role
The Principal Network Connectivity Solutions Engineer is a highly knowledgeable lead of a team that will develop IT infrastructure solutions and standards that meet or exceed business performance expectations.
This role will be based in Southampton on a hybrid basis with some international travel required.
You will:
- Architect, design, develop and deliver ship to shore communications and data transport, global wide-area network routing, network security, cloud networking and data centre networking to achieve and sustain world class Shipboard Communications and services for the Carnival Corporation fleet, as well as all shore side locations.
- Create detailed solution designs and documentation that assists the development, implementation and operations of enterprise-class network used globally across ship and shore locations for all brands, including CUK, Costa, AIDA, CCL, HAL, SBN and CAU.
- Support cross-departmental collaboration and internal communications with staff throughout the organisation, corporation and service providers while promoting a positive work environment that supports consistency and drives efficiencies.
Our role categories range from CUK15 (entry level) to CUK1 (Brand President) so you can clearly see internal development opportunities. This role is a CUK07 and is offered on a full time permanent basis.
About You
Fresh ideas and different perspectives are what excite us most and help us to succeed. Alongside bringing these to the role, you’ll also need:
- Substantial previous experience within a similar Principal Engineer role
- Strong knowledge in various network security technology such as Firewall, IPS, AV, Micro-segmentation, Zero-Day attack, Cloud security group management, Secure Access Service Edge, Remote Access VPN and Authentication servers/MFA.
- Experience in at least one major manufacture such as Palo Alto, Fortinet, Juniper, Checkpoint, Dell, HPE/Aruba, Versa and Cisco for Layer 2/3 network switching, wireless Network technology, Firewall technology, SDN and WAN.
- TCP/IP, SSL, LACP, LLDP/CDP, EIGRP, OSPF, BGP, MPLS, HSRP, GLBP, SNMP, STP, VPC, VSS, VDC, MSDP, PIM, IGMP, RTP, SIP, H.323, LWAPP, RADIUS, TACACS+, various 802.11 wireless standards, WiFi6, VXLAN, DNS, DHCP.
- VMWare working knowledge
- NetScaler and F5 Application Delivery Controllers as well as Cisco CCIE or equivalent enterprise experience
- Excellent presentation and communication skills
- Experience in implementing satellite communications systems along with working knowledge of Satellite RF sub-systems (Block Up Converters, LNBs, antennas)
- A relevant Degree qualification (or equivalent) in computer science, information technology, other advanced science or engineering field would be beneficial
