Carnival Corporate Shipbuilding (CCS) is underway with its long-term strategy, which involves shipbuilding activities in China. We are looking for a Senior Inspector, Outfitting who will be based in Shanghai to support the delivery of the Corporate Shipbuilding activities within this location.

The successful candidate will be responsible for inspections within their discipline and maintaining continuous tracking, follow-up and review of the status of assigned open construction issues, non-conformances, remarks and defects. This will involve supervising all matters relating to pre-outfitting, including insulation, floor, wall and deck coverings, architectural decors of crew and passenger accommodation areas, glazing, furniture, artwork in areas, as well as other public and crew areas. They will ensure that the installations and all materials used follow the specification and architectural design, of a suitable quality fit for its intended use, approved by class (if required), and comply with the agreed samples made available from the approval process.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Being responsible for inspections within your allocated discipline and maintaining continuous tracking, follow-up and review of the status of assigned open construction issues, non-conformances, remarks and defects.
  • Ensuring that all the equipment and systems are safe to operate and installed with reasonable access for future maintenance and repair. In particular, ensuring that the equipment and systems are installed according to the manufacturers recommended planned maintenance and installation procedures.
  • Being fully familiar with the contents of the ship specification, the agreed and approved drawings, the agreed shipbuilding standards, the agreed testing and commissioning protocols.
  • Ensuring that any changes required by the operating company or Corporate Shipbuilding are verified and supervised for their implementation on board.
  • Maintaining accurate records of inspection and commissioning results and contributing to monthly construction status reports.
  • Proactively enforcing that remarks, defects and other non-conformities, within related discipline, identified from past projects, or from a guarantee claim relevant to equipment, systems, installations and workmanship / quality are being addressed to the shipyard and followed through during the inspection or commissioning process.


About You

We are looking for a person with substantial experience of working in the marine industry such as shipbuilding, classification societies or ship operators, technical suppliers, or an engineering firm. You will have demonstrable experience in delivering inspections in the outfitting discipline with an emphasis on problem solving, working in and with multi-cultural environments where teamwork is of the essence.
