We’re looking for an experienced Senior Tax Analyst to fill this critical role based in our Seattle office and primarily supporting the Holland America Line’s indirect tax function. You’ll be responsible for the timely preparation and payment of various US and non-US non-income (indirect taxes) tax returns and supporting schedules for Holland America and Seabourn arising from their cruise operations that are not otherwise paid for or overseen by the Ports team as head taxes or by Global Tax as income taxes. This includes but not limited to US and state sales, use and excise taxes, local Alaska sales and excise taxes, European VAT, Bahamas VAT, Australian GST and coastal taxes, and Brazilian cabotage taxes. You’ll also support the business in preparing tax exemption certificates to provide to vendors as requested. The role will also involve the support of property tax returns or foreign income tax returns prepared by external advisors. This role will also support the Tax Manager in coordinating with the Global Tax department to align indirect tax filing positions across the Carnival brands. The Senior Tax Analyst will assist in gathering information or preparing working papers for tax audits, special projects and other Tax department indirect tax initiatives.

Responsibilities
Tax Preparation
Prepare the organization’s global indirect tax returns and/or supporting workpapers in a timely and accurate manner. Initiate or otherwise support the timely payment of the associated indirect taxes.
Prepare the supporting information needed for local property tax returns that are prepared by external tax advisors, in a timely and accurate manner.
Prepare and upload tax journal entries and reconcile the associated tax accounts on the general ledger on a monthly/quarterly basis, and other tax reconciliations or schedules as needed.
Prepare tax exemption certificates as appropriate upon request by various procurement teams to provide to vendors.
Cross-Functional Collaboration and Foreign Tax
Collaborate with external advisors or other Carnival global tax teams in the preparation and review of certain foreign tax returns (e.g. Spain VAT, Brazilian cabotage, Australian GST) as necessary.
Assist in the preparation of supporting documentation and responses to federal, state or foreign tax audits and inquiries.
Insight and Risk Management
Stay up-to-date on tax law changes impacting the indirect taxes of the organization.
Perform technical tax research on various indirect tax issues as needed.
Identify and assess indirect tax risks and recommend mitigation strategies.
Special Projects
Assist the Tax Manager or the Global Tax group with special projects around indirect taxes and other Global Tax initiatives.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
Minimum of 2 years of experience with preparation of sales and use tax returns. Some understanding or familiarity with VAT, GST and other non-US indirect taxes.
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or a related major. Master's Degree and CPA a plus.
Experience with Microsoft Excel and Accounting Software (ERP).
Excellent oral and written communication skills; Excellent workpaper organization and referencing.
Must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Holland America is unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of employment visas at this time (e.g., H-1B status).
Please note that this is a hybrid position based in Seattle, WA. Candidates must be comfortable coming into the office 3 days/week (Tuesday-Thursday).

Base Salary Range: $87,600.00-$118,200.00. The range is applicable for the labor market where the role is intended to be hired. Final base salary is directly related to each candidates' qualifications and experience uniquely.
