We’re looking for an experienced Senior Specialist, Employee Programs and HR Policy to fill this hybrid role which is based out of our Seattle office. In this critical role you’ll support the implementation of employee engagement programs that create connections and positively impact our employment culture for both shipboard and shoreside employees across Holland America, Seabourn, and Holland America Princess (HAP) Alaska. This includes integrating our recognition and employee engagement programs and policies, managing our HR policies, supporting the deployment and reporting of ongoing employee engagement activities, and leading in communicating the company’s culture to drive improved business results.

Responsibilities
- Employee Programs
- Manage the complete life cycle of employee programs, overseeing initiatives such as, Education Reimbursement, Recognition Programs, and external educational and training partners.
- Continuously assess current programs and recommend improvements, implement best practices, and introduce innovative solutions to enhance program effectiveness and alignment with the company's goals and values.
- Ensure all programs are managed and tracked for cost effectiveness, executed on-time and within budget with appropriate stakeholder collaboration and accountability.
- Policy Management
- As the process owner of HR policies, lead and manage all HR policies for both shipboard and shoreside operations. Manage our policy framework, consult and collaborate on policy development, maintain policy systems, and communicate changes to employees.
- Interpret policies and provide guidance to employees and managers on policy-related matters, ensuring that policies are understood and followed across the organization.
- Strategic Analysis Through Metrics & Reporting
- Build and manage regular reporting for employee programs and initiatives.
- Identify key metrics to track, then design and develop the needed reporting for regular review and analysis.
- Uses metrics to raise awareness of inconsistent, unusual, or trending items. By identifying these trends, draw useful and strategic conclusions and recommend solutions for process improvements.
- Employs data-driven decision-making to align with long-term strategic goals and priorities, ensuring regular reporting is conducted with a strategic mindset.
- Work with stakeholders to implement strategic plans designed to achieve improved performance results for programs.
- Monitor participation, identify trends, and provide recommendation(s) for enhancements and revisions to existing programs, as necessary or required.
- Stakeholder Collaboration
- Collaborate with various departments to assess needs of the organization, socialize programs, and ensure regular updates to programs are provided in a timely manner.
- Maintain professional relationships with internal stakeholders and external vendors representing the needs and goals of the HR team is essential.
- Demonstrate creativity to maximize resources and ensure high employee participation in events and initiatives.
- As a project owner and representative of our employee programs, provide updates on projects, policies, and recommendations to leadership, including to the Executive Leadership team.
- Adapt to changing priorities and demonstrate assertive ownership over work assignments, ensuring that all tasks are completed effectively and efficiently.
- Continuous Improvement
- Drive continuous improvement by researching and identifying opportunities through automation and technology.
- Manage data and reporting cycles to support communication of HR program effectiveness, project progress, and key performance indicators.
- Ensure all HR practices adhere to legal standards.
- Use data-driven decision making to align with long-term strategic goals and priorities.
- Perform other duties as needed.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field. Master's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field and certification in HR or related field (e.g., SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP), highly preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in employee engagement, human resources, or a related field. Experience in a specialist role highly preferred.
- Strong understanding of employee engagement principles and best practices.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to analyze data and use it to drive decision-making.
- Proven ability to support successful engagement programs.
- Strong project management skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Experience working in a collaborative, team-oriented environment.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Holland America is unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of employment visas at this time (e.g., H-1B status).
Please note that this is a hybrid position based in Seattle, WA. Candidates must be comfortable coming into the office 3 days/week (Tuesday-Thursday).

- Base Salary Range: $74,100.00-$100,000.00. The range is applicable for the labor market where the role is intended to be hired. Final base salary is directly related to each candidates' qualifications and experience uniquely.
