The Technical Principal Lead is responsible for supporting new and existing technology solutions and Business Operations technology teams across the Holland America Line and Seabourn fleets. This position supports and recommends the technical approach and designs for various IT shipboard solutions such as shipboard property management system, POS, MXP, embarkation and gangway, iCafe, or IPTV for Holland America Line and Seabourn. Works directly with IT product management and other IT teams such as infrastructure resources to design and implement technical solutions, review application capabilities, as well as improve business processes. The Technical Principal Lead collaborates with third party solution providers and cross-functional business teams to define and deliver against product development and other technology roadmaps and provides technical solutioning as required. In addition, the role is responsible for leading maintenance of and upholding of the respective Brands security and Compliance posture as it relates to applicable technologies and collaborates closely with corporate security and related Fleet Operations stakeholders. As and when required this role leads their team in the technical support for Pilots, POC's and new installations and or upgrades of 3rd party operational technologies used by the Holland America Line and Seabourn Fleet.

Responsibilities
- Play a pivotal role in guiding day-to-day decision-making and serves as a critical liaison between Fleet Product Management, IT technical teams, and key business stakeholders.
- Maintain alignment between project scope and delivery expectations, particularly in the context of complex enterprise applications and third-party software platforms.
- Apply Agile and Scrum methodologies to drive continuous improvement and delivery excellence.
- Refine and prioritize the product backlog in collaboration with IT Product Managers and cross-functional team members, facilitating release planning sessions, and managing interdependencies across teams.
- Support risk mitigation, promotes transparency, and ensures that technical solutions align with business goals and operational priorities.
- Lead and manage a team of technical resources responsible for Fleet technology, setting clear expectations, offering constructive feedback, and nurturing professional growth.
- Promote continuous improvement to drive successful projects execution and ensures the team contributes effectively to achieving business objectives in the realm of business application and fleet technology solutions.
- Manage and lead stakeholder engagement and communication ensuring project success and alignment across business leadership, product owners, and IT technical teams.
- Maintain regular and clear communication channels to facilitate understanding and consensus on project goals, priorities, and expectations.
- Actively engage with stakeholders, including third parties, to gather comprehensive technical requirements, provides timely updates on project progress, and addresses any emerging challenges or scope changes promptly.
- Lead roadmap execution with senior leadership and cross-functional teams to craft and refine detailed roadmaps for business application software, Fleet Technology that align closely with business objectives.
- Process improvement and efficiency with focus on identifying opportunities to streamline and enhance efficiency across Business Application Technology development and Fleet Technology.
- Drive the analysis of current processes, identifying bottlenecks, and implementing operational improvements to optimize workflow and resource utilization.
Requirements
- 5 years of experience as a manager supporting software development or system implementation projects as well as experience delivering business systems solutions in an enterprise IT environment.
- 5 years supporting internal and external Operational Technologies, within the Cruise or Hospitality industries a plus
- 3+ years of progressive experience in software engineering, software delivery or related fields
- Strong communication and presentation skills for both technical and non-technical audiences
- Demonstrated experience leading and delivering complex technology projects, including budget oversight and resource planning
- Expertise in Agile methodologies, including backlog refinement, sprint planning, and cross-team coordination
- Proficiency with tools such as JIRA and Confluence for sprint tracking, reporting, and metrics
- Experience designing and launching customer-facing products or services in Agile environments
- Solid understanding of project management principles, including resource allocation and timeline management
- Ability to anticipate bottlenecks, manage trade-offs, and balance business needs with technical constraints
- Strong analytical skills to interpret data, identify trends, and make data-driven decisions
- Familiarity with DevOps practices, including continuous integration, delivery, and deployment
- Knowledge of industry best practices for systems implementation, testing, and risk management
- Proven ability to drive collaboration, communication, and alignment across diverse teams with competing priorities
- Capacity to manage multiple parallel projects in a dynamic environment
- Ability to evaluate new technologies and understand their implications within a business context
- Understand business insight and deep technical expertise to ensure the successful delivery of Fleet IT initiatives.

- Base Salary Range: $112,800.00 to $152,300.00. The range is applicable for the labor market where the role is intended to be hired. Final base salary is directly related to each candidates' qualifications and experience uniquely.
