Key Details:

  • Hybrid Program: This internship is a hybrid program based in Miami, Florida. Students must be available for the entire duration of the program and willing to work a hybrid schedule, combining both in-office and remote work. This is a full-time opportunity, with interns working 40 hours per week. While hours may vary, interns can expect to work from 9 AM to 5 PM, Monday through Friday.
  • Eligibility: Juniors, seniors, and graduate students are preferred for the program.
  • Technical Requirements: Interns will be provided with a company-issued laptop and will need reliable internet when working remotely.

Maritime Compliance – ISM & Compliance

Department Summary

The Maritime Compliance team ensures Carnival Cruise Line operates in alignment with international, national, and company-specific safety and environmental regulations. The department oversees the implementation and continuous improvement of the Safety Management System (ISM Code), Environmental Management System (ISO 14001), and other regulatory frameworks. Our work supports the safe and responsible operation of the fleet and contributes to Carnival’s commitment to compliance and sustainability.

Internship Project Summary

Project Title: Compliance Monitoring & Reporting


Objective: The intern will support the ISM & Compliance team in monitoring regulatory compliance across the fleet, analyzing performance metrics, and contributing to process improvement initiatives.


Impact: The intern’s work will help ensure timely follow-up and closure of compliance findings, enhance reporting accuracy, and support the development of tools that improve operational efficiency.

Essential Functions (Key Responsibilities)

  • Engage with the compliance team to assist with monitoring activities and provide status updates.

  • Support analysts in generating reports, gathering performance metrics, and assisting with planning tasks.

  • Analyze complex data sets to identify compliance issues and trends.

  • Identify areas for improvement within compliance processes.

  • Contribute to special projects focused on process improvement, including developing tools, apps, or dashboards.

Learning Outcomes

  • Gain hands-on experience in maritime compliance and regulatory monitoring.

  • Develop analytical and reporting skills using real-world data.

Specific Qualifications

  • Education: Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Marine Engineering, Data Analytics, Statistics, or a related field.

  • Skills: Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills; attention to detail; ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

  • Technical: Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel.

  • Other: Commitment to ethical conduct and a willingness to speak up about concerns or misconduct.
