We are looking for an amazing Vice President, Maritime Performance Optimization to fill this role, which is based in our Doral office. The VP, Maritime Performance Optimization, supporting Princess Cruise Line, Holland America Line, and Seabourn purpose is to oversee all Port Cost Accounting functions for PCL, HAL, & SBN, ensuring accurate financial reporting and timely payments. It involves managing a team, providing analytics, and creating an effective PMO organization within the Maritime Teams. The role also focuses on waste optimization initiatives and strategic collaboration with external stakeholders. Additionally, it includes budget responsibilities and ensuring compliance with internal and external standards, including environmental health and safety policies. Here is a summary of what Princess is looking for in its Vice President, Maritime Performance Optimization Is this you?

Responsibilities

  • Oversees all Port Cost Accounting functions for PCL/HAL & SBN, ensuring proper accounting of tariffs, port charges, service provider costs, and timely and accurate payments and collections. 
  • Responsible for timely and accurate financial reporting of port costs to the Maritime and Finance Teams
  • Provides regular and ad-hoc analytics to maritime and port operations teams and collaborates on port cost initiatives and billing.
  • Manages a team of three direct reports: Director Maritime Affairs, Director Business Port Admin, and Manager Waste Optimization.
  • Tasked with creating an effective PMO organization within the Maritime Teams, focusing on shared service initiatives like cabin assignments and optimization of shipboard processes
  • Oversees waste optimization initiatives within the Maritime teams and collaborates with other departments such as F&B and Hotel Operations.
  • Develops and executes a waste optimization program to provide updated, accurate information for the fleets and recommendations for better waste handling
  • Demonstrated success in leading a team with strong organizational and leadership skills.
  • Experience working across cultures and geographies, recognizing inclusive viewpoints.
  • Collaborative and trustworthy, with strong interpersonal skills
  • Ability to project manage and provide executive support for multiple cruise line operations in ports worldwide
  • Effectively prioritizes tasks to support daily regional responsibilities while providing additional assistance to third-party vendors, direct reports, and other team members.
  • Manages strategic relationships with external stakeholders and authorities such as Flag State officials, Port State Officials, Classification officials, harbor officials, major business partners, competitors, industry relations, Government agencies, and regulatory organizations.
  • Empowers the Port Operations team to identify and recommend best practices for operations to senior leadership, internal departments, and outside vendors for port and marine operations worldwide.
  • Works closely with the finance team and has a dotted line relationship with them.
  • G&A budget responsibilities for direct team of 8
  • Financial oversight of approximately $500 million annually, between PCL, HAL, & SBN
  • T&E of $1.75 million annually
  • Ensures proper development of annual budget, quarterly forecasts, and reviews performance reporting and recommended actions to be taken to reduce cost and increase revenue                                           

Requirements

  • Minimum 15 years leading analytical teams and supporting senior leadership
  • 10+ years of managerial experience
  • Preferred experience with shipboard operations
  • Bachelor’s Degree (preferably in Business, Marketing, or Hospitality Management), Equivalent Experience, MBA or master’s degree strongly preferred
  • Strong proficiency in advanced analytics 
  • Well versed in all Port Operations (departmental) systems
  • Familiarization with worldwide deployments and operations
  • Detailed working knowledge of ship and shoreside management
  • Financial background including ability to create and analyze data
  • Strong executive presence with the ability to influence C-suite leaders, communicate complex financial insights, and drive consensus across business units.
  • Strong knowledge and background in all internal and external Port Operations systems and reporting tool
  • Detailed working knowledge of ship and shoreside waste management
  • Strong knowledge of security requirements at a port level worldwide
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Princess is unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of employment visas at this time (e.g., H-1B status).

This position is considered Hybrid and follows the Company’s schedule of three days in the office per week (Tuesday – Thursday). However, beginning in 2027, employees in this position will be required to work on-site at our new headquarters in Miami, FL.
