An instrumental member of the team, with accuracy as the primary benchmark, they will oversee the entire contract lifecycle (from initiation to execution, renewal, and closeout), ensuring adherence to business requirements, legal policies, and workflows.
This position will manage all aspects of contracting for the Strategic Sourcing teams covering IT and Indirect IT (as applicable) areas of spend. They will build relationships and collaborate with cross-functional teams (legal, risk, data privacy, tax, insurance stakeholders, etc.) to understand business needs; provide guidance in effective term negotiations and scope drafting; navigate responses to redlines to accelerate agreements; and drive continuous process improvements.
The Contract Manager must be able to clearly communicate; maintain focus on timelines and legal deliverables to ensure business goals and objectives are met. Accuracy and high attention to detail a must. They will need strong organizational skills to be able to manage and prioritize multiple contract review/negotiation efforts concurrently without being overwhelmed. This position does not draft, issue, nor review request for proposals for the Strategic Sourcing team.
Essential Functions:
- Engages and collaborates with Carnival’s Global Strategic Sourcing Team and, and stakeholders from Corporate Services and all Brand Operating Units. This position will be responsible for ensuring the incorporation of business requirements into agreements, sound document redline control practices, routing and execution of agreements, and timely escalations.
- Utilize Carnival’s Contract Management System (CMS) to ensure all relevant supporting documentation is uploaded into CMS; build and manage reporting that alerts sourcing managers on renewals and termination dates.
- Provide accurate reporting of the status of contracts and other ad-hoc reporting required by the Carnival sourcing Leadership Team to manage the contracts.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Law, Supply Chain, IT or other applicable discipline
- Work Experience: 5+ years’ relevant experience managing corporate contracts as a Contract Administrator or relevant role. This position is NOT tied to construction, or RFP creation Critical Professional Related Technical/Computer Skills: Computer skills, including email and office tools
- Critical Professional Related Technical/Computer Skills: Proficient in MS Excel, Word, Ariba CMS. Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Proficiency in corporate law
- Prior experience working as a contract manager or a related job.
- Accuracy and high attention to detail – necessary concentration, patience, and a good eye to thoroughly review a document to fully understand intent and identify (redline) errors, undesirable provisions, etc.
- Excellent written, reading and comprehension skills.
- Proficient in contract management software (Ariba, Coupa, etc.) and Microsoft 365 Suite.
- Strong organizational skills to be able to manage and prioritize multiple contract review/negotiation efforts concurrently without being overwhelmed.
- Emotionally intelligent, logical, and reasonable to manage expectations as they will face internal pressure to close contracts quickly.
- Build relationships and collaborate with cross-functional teams (legal, risk, data privacy, tax, insurance, stakeholders, etc.) to develop responses, accelerate agreements, drive continuous process improvements.
- Maintain clear and effective communication with all parties involved in the contracting process.
- Familiarity with reviewing cloud service contracts, master service and product supply agreements, data privacy and security language, etc.
- Validate all aspects of contractual packages for accuracy and compliance with Carnival’s Contract policy and processes.
Physical Demands: Must be able to remain in a stationary position at a desk and/or computer for extended periods of time.
Travel: Less than 25% with non-shipboard travel likely
Work Conditions: Work primarily in a climate-controlled environment with minimal safety/health hazard potential.
This position is classified as "in-office." As an in-office role, it requires employees to work from a designated Carnival office in South Florida from Tuesday through Thursday. Employees may work from home on Mondays and Fridays. Some positions may require additional in-office time each week and final schedule is determined by your leader. Candidates must be located in (or willing to relocate to) the Miami/Ft. Lauderdale area.
