The SME Engineer at Carnival Corporation is responsible for providing expert technical knowledge and ensuring world-leading and fully optimized data & maintenance philosophies across all Brands in their Technical Planned Maintenance Systems (PMS). This role involves ensuring the highest possible quality of data entered into the PMS) of vessels, meeting all required legislation, and optimizing it to provide significant business benefits. The SME Engineer will analyze all assets fitted to the vessels in connection with users and manufacturers. The SME Engineer will work closely with the Asset Management Team and collaborate with various Brands to achieve consensus and consistency on optimized data and maintenance tasks. The ideal candidate will have expert technical knowledge and experience in data analysis and maintenance systems and a proactive approach to fleet asset performance analysis and compliance.

Essential Functions:

  • Asset Management System Development and Maintenance: Responsible for developing and maintaining the Carnival Group's shared asset management database and Planned Maintenance System (PMS), ensuring standardized information, data analysis, and accurate, up-to-date records for planned maintenance and asset records, including user data change requests.

  • Planned Maintenance System (PMS) Compliance and Development: Accountable for developing and maintaining the PMS to ensure compliance with statutory and company safety and operational standards, liaising with relevant departments, ensuring the asset management database and PMS conform to legislation and safety/reliability standards, and proactively reviewing manufacturer documentation and regulatory updates.

  • Stakeholder Collaboration and Strategic Support: Maintain contact with various divisions, external entities, and stakeholders to monitor developments, support strategic initiatives related to maintenance and technical inventory, ensure best practices and consistency across the Group, and keep accurate records of meetings and agreements.

  • Fleet Asset Performance and Optimization: Responsible for proactively reviewing and analyzing fleet asset performance data, benchmarking performances, identifying common failures, and formulating corrective actions, while providing feedback on new vessel designs to reduce ownership costs and staying updated on industry practices and vessel performance feedback.

  • Performs other duties as assigned                                                                 

Qualifications:

  • Degree in Marine/Mechanical/Electrical Engineering or equivalent, or Licensed Marine Engineer.

  • 5+ years of experience in the cruise ship and/or shipbuilding industry.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Advanced Excel experience.

Physical Demands: Remain in a stationary position at a desk and/or computer for extended periods of time, reasonable adjustments will be offered.

Travel: Less than 25% non-shipboard travel likely

Work Conditions: Work primarily in a climate-controlled environment with minimal safety/health hazard potential.

This position is classified as “in-office.” As an in-office role, it requires employees to work from a designated Carnival office in South Florida Tuesday through Thursday each week. Employees may work from their homes on Mondays and Fridays.  Candidates must be located in (or willing to relocate to) the Miami/Ft. Lauderdale area.
