The Shore Excursions Operations & Onboard Revenue Director directs and manages the day-to-day operation of the shipboard Carnival Adventures Operations and Revenue department, responsible for the performance and effectiveness of operations optimization managers/supporting specialist role and shipboard Shore Excursion teams. This role formulates strategy/initiatives to improve performance, by way of sales tactic and trainings, procure resources and ensure compliance; also, this position is responsible for setting goals, objectives and policies for the Carnival Adventures department of 120+ active team members, across fleet of 29. This person is responsible for all financial aspects of the operations (budgeting, controlling cost, business forecast and sales reports) and collaborates in high level decision making with Product Development Director as well as other Onboard Guest Commerce department heads through communication of department's vision/ strategy. This person must promote a culture that encourages top performance in an engaging and positive work environment, providing operational support to the entire department on sensitive, urgent & important issues escalated through all Operations Managers. This position is responsible for championing the department ECP goals, promoting Safe and Environmentally adequate operations in across all 140+ ports of call, ensuring exceptional guest experience and satisfaction, and delivery of revenue product.

Essential Functions:

  • Provides operational support to the entire department on sensitive, urgent & important issues escalated through all Operations Managers                                                             
  • Provide feedback, support and coaching and mentoring by educating onboard team on emerging products, profitability, strategies, competitive strategies, proper use and level of customer support, management of expenses and business/financial issues. Develop appropriate performance review objectives; provide day-to-day coaching                    
  • Maximize revenue stream working with Product Managers, review and measure performance against established goals. Assure growth of participation in the program with an emphasis on establishing fruitful and long-lasting partnerships with tour operators to create win-win scenarios aimed at maximizing sales and profitability without compromising on quality, service and safety standards.
  • Monitor the achievement of sales objectives by assessing the response to and suitability of current material and promotions in order to achieve revenue objectives. Critically evaluate information gathered from different sources, reconcile conflicts and summarize high-level information. Key contributor to analyzing business problems and preparing relevant recommendations.                                                                  
  • Closely liaising with relevant internal and external business partners and stakeholders regarding securing the best itinerary and times in port that is needed. Continuously monitor, fine-tune and develop contingency planning – enabling quick implementation and hassle-free plans. Representing CCL’ interests developing revenue opportunities in each port through negotiation leveraging CCL’s year round deployment.    
  • Coordinating with ship- and land-/port-based operations when putting in place alternative programs or implementing other deviations into the schedule, disseminating relevant information where needed and prioritizing safety and security of guests and crew above all else.                                                                 
  • Organize and maintain processes in place that assure constant communication between shipboard teams and Tour Operators.                                                                   
  • Direct the future development of all Carnival Adventures teams through evaluation, counseling and guidance. Onboard Sales training and implementation of initiatives to increase onboard take rate and overall sales. Provide pro-active participation and feedback to Senior Leadership Team to shape the strategic direction of Carnival Adventures.
  • Ensure safe operations and environmentally adequate experiences in our tours in all ports visited.                                                               

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Management, Hospitality, Logistics, Business Administration, Master's preferred
  • 10 + years in Operations Management, Logistics and Quality Assurance experience, preferably in the travel industry.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Publisher and PowerPoint   
  • Project Management skills         
  • Ability to analyze large amounts of data; think critically or be able to analyze situations or statements and determine their validity 
  • Ability to manage complex projects and spot details
  • Big picture & systemic thinking  - always think in terms of integrated, interconnected systems and how they interact with and affect each other
  • Awareness of internal and external customer needs
  • Adaptable and comfortable with the urgent pace imposed by the shipboard operations 
  • Tech savvy and ease with new products

Physical Demands: Must be able to remain in a stationary position at a desk and/or computer for extended periods of time.

Travel: Less than 25% non-shipboard travel likely

Work Conditions: Work primarily in a climate-controlled environment with minimal safety/health hazard potential.

This position is classified as “in-office.” As an in-office role, it requires employees to work from a designated Carnival office in South Florida Tuesday through Thursday each week. Employees may work from their homes on Mondays and Fridays.  Candidates must be located in (or willing to relocate to) the Miami/Ft. Lauderdale area.
