The incumbent in this role creates/writes press materials and other written copy, responds to media inquiries regarding CCL, participates in a rotating on-call weekend schedule to monitor the media inbox, distributes press releases, and maintains Carnival's online newsroom for both scheduled announcements and during incident responses The Senior Specialist, Public Relations & Communications is also responsible for updating, organizing and coordinating media events, managing media lists, distributing PR-related reports to internal stakeholders, and tracking Carnival's news coverage, as well as organizing photos and video.
Essential Functions:
Creates the copywriting of CCL's external communications, including press releases, executive speeches/talking points, tailored pitch emails, personality profiles, articles for key executives and travel agent partners.
Manages media familiarization and laisses with press and internal stakeholders to provide experiences and other amenities for journalists sailing. Organizes and develops all aspects of planning group press sailings including the coordination and tracking of journalist’s sailings.
Writes articles for various internal communication outlets. Screens and responds to day-to-day inquiries from consumers, the trade (such as travel partners and agencies), and lifestyle media. Participates in an on-call rotating schedule on weekends.
Tracks coverage of CCL by gathering clips and creating/distributing a daily report for internal stakeholders. Generates additional CCL coverage through tailored story pitches that highlight CCL personnel, onboard features, amenities and attractions, as well as evaluates and facilitates staff interviews with CCL executives.
Assists as needed during crises and other incidents to react and respond to inquiries. Provides organization and coordination of media partners at CCL special events.
Produces and designs visual content for PR campaigns and media materials to enhance storytelling and support campaign visibility across all platforms and outlets. Edits short video content and graphics using Canva.

Scope: Supports Carnival Cruise Line's public relations and communications efforts through media relations, content development, newsroom management, and coordination of media events and sailings. Partners with shoreside and shipboard teams to protect and promote the brand.
Problem-solving: Respond to media inquiries, adapts messaging for various audiences, and supports crisis communications under tight deadlines.
Impact: Helps maintain and enhance Carnival Cruise Line's reputation by supporting media coverage, sharing key company news, and ensuring consistent, accurate communications with internal and external audiences.

Essential/Minimum qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in Public Relations, Communications or a related field
Excellent writing skills with the ability to work well under pressure with high level of productivity.
Ability to respond with a high degree of professionalism and with tailored responses that demonstrate a keen understanding of Carnival products, features, and itineraries.
A team player with the ability to communicate and partner across many departments within CCL with all levels including executives.
Comfortable managing shifting priorities; Strong skills in communicating in both public relations and online media (i.e., blogs, social networks, etc.).
Energetic self-starter, highly motivated and creative
Detail oriented and organized
Self-motivated and takes initiative to complete work and prioritize duties.
Essential experience required:
5+ years of experience in Public Relations, Communication and/or Journalism with a company or through an agency; in the hospitality industry a plus
Familiarity with graphic design tools such as Canva and the ability to create compelling visual graphics to support PR initiatives is preferred.
Ability to edit short-form video content for various platforms and campaigns to enhance visual storytelling is a plus.
Travel: Less than 25% non-shipboard travel likely
Work Conditions: Work primarily in a climate-controlled environment with minimal safety/health hazard potential.
Physical Demands: Must be able to remain in a stationary position at a desk and/or computer for extended periods of time.
This position is classified as “in-office.” As an in-office role, it requires employees to work from a designated Carnival office in South Florida Monday through Thursday each week. Employees may work from their homes on Fridays. Candidates must be located in (or willing to relocate to) the Miami/Ft. Lauderdale area.
