The Senior Tax Analyst will primarily support the income tax function of the organization. This role will be responsible for tax compliance for the company’s business operations which includes preparing the US Federal income tax returns, US income tax informational returns, US State income and franchise tax returns, and all supporting documentation and schedules, including schedule M-1s.  It may also involve the support and review of foreign income tax returns prepared by external advisors.  This role will also support more senior members of the Global Tax department to coordinate with brand-level finance team members to support the income tax provision process, income tax forecasting, and tax planning. The Senior Tax Analyst will assist in special projects and other Global Tax department initiatives.  This role will provide hands-on global tax experience in a fun and professional environment.                                                                                         

Responsibilities

  • Prepare the organization’s US Federal and other global income tax returns and their required schedules and supporting documentation including extension and estimates, in a timely and accurate manner.        

  • Prepare and manage State income and franchise tax returns and their required schedules and supporting documentation, including extensions and estimates, in a timely and accurate manner.            

  • Prepare other reconciliations and schedules, as needed.

  • Collaborate with external advisors in the preparation and review of certain foreign income tax returns, as necessary.

  • Prepare and upload tax journal entries and reconcile on a monthly/quarterly basis.         

  • Assist more senior members of the Global Tax group in the administration of federal and state tax audits and inquiries, including responding to IDRs and preparing audit questionnaires.

  • Stay up-to-date on US (both federal and state) tax law changes impacting the organization.

  • Perform technical tax research on various tax issues that are or may be applicable to the organization.      

  • Assist more senior members of the Global Tax group with special projects and other Global Tax initiatives.       

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree. Master's Degree a plus. 

  • Accounting Major. CPA is preferred. 

  • Microsoft Excel; Tax compliance software such as OneSource Income Tax.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills; Excellent workpaper organization and referencing.                     

  • A minimum of 2 years of experience with the preparation of corporate tax returns.

  • This position is classified as “in-office.” As an in-office role, it requires employees to work from a designated Carnival office in South Florida Monday through Thursday each week. Employees may work from home on Fridays.  Candidates must be located in (or willing to relocate to) the Miami/Ft. Lauderdale area.
