Responsible for conceptualizing and creating advanced demand monitoring and customer behavior models; maintaining, enhancing, and improving the accuracy and effectiveness of existing model performance; providing consulting advice and tools to improve revenue management analyst performance and revenue maximization; and utilizing science models to support executive reporting and budget/revenue forecasting.
Essential Functions:
- Develop, enhance a variety of mathematical models (includes data collection, analysis, prototyping, testing, creation of production systems, and development of performance metrics)
- Monitor model performance, re-calibrate, maintain, and recommend design enhancements.
- Develop tools/reports for analysts and management to monitor business trends, forecasts, and customer behavior.
- Aid upper management by way of ad hoc analyses to answer a variety of business-related questions
- Consult/train analysts and management on use of science models and tools
Qualifications:
- Minimum Education: Master’s Degree required
- Discipline/Major: Quantitative discipline such as Operations Research, Industrial Engineering, Applied Math, Decision Sciences, or related field
- Required Years and Area of Professional Experience: 7+ years’ experience preferred within a large corporation practicing revenue management or academic research on revenue management models and systems
- Critical Professional Related Technical/Computer Skills: Experience in building mathematical models utilizing Data Mining/Operations Research/Statistics techniques, Proficient in SQL, Python, SAS/SPSS/R and Tableau desktop.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Self-starter who can work well across teams and move projects forward when information is incomplete or ambiguous with minimal guidance from the management team.
- Ability to lead medium-to-large sized efforts across teams from inception to completion.
- Ability to understand and build out the team’s analytical and technical framework in a way that efficiently and holistically supports performance objectives.
- Ability to understand individual models as well as how those models interact across a variety of subject area.
- Must demonstrate an ability to understand, analyze, and consider the interactions of various business variables, operational considerations, and data limitations in creating modeling that aligns with real-world behavior and allows users to draw insights, develop deeper understanding, and make better decisions that result in improved performance.
- Ability to review modeling output against real-world behavior and make recommendations to manger, product management team, and senior-level leadership.
- Ability to communicate sophisticated modeling concepts in easy-to-understand business terminology across various levels of users is important to the success of this role.
- Ability to take on undefined business opportunities and develop analytical frameworks that create meaningful business context, deepen understanding of the business, create actionable opportunities, and propose solutions that are operationally feasible.
- Ability to correctly define business problems, research and assess the effectiveness of various modeling approaches when given a specific business question, understand data limitations, anticipate downstream impacts, and create structure when existing structures do not already exist.
Work Location:This position is classified as “in-office.” As an in-office role, it requires employees to work from a designated Carnival office in South Florida Tuesday through Thursday each week. Employees may work from their homes on Mondays and Fridays. Candidates must be in (or willing to relocate to) the Miami/Ft. Lauderdale area.
