Oversee the daily operations of Carnival's rehearsal facility, Carnival Studios, and related apartments. Provide a safe, efficient, and positive working environment at the Studios for all rehearsing shipboard team members and shoreside staff. The Manager, Studio Operations is responsible for the daily studio operations, ensuring efficient rehearsals by collaborating with managers and supervisors of production shows, music, technical, and casting. Responsibilities include managing the master schedule for rehearsals and onboard contracts and conducting regular facility reviews to maintain optimal conditions and compliance with health and safety standards, and assisting with transportation logistics, including driving employees and/or equipment between apartments and the studio to ensure timely and safe arrival for rehearsals.Additionally, the role is responsible for logistics involved with housing, team logistics and ensuring the safe arrival of team members for rehearsals.

Essential Functions:

  • Program, Operations & Innovation:

    • Operations: Oversee daily studio operations by collaborating with managers and supervisors of production shows, music, technical, and casting teams to ensure efficient rehearsals. Conduct regular facility inspections and preventive maintenance to ensure optimal conditions and compliance with health and safety standards.

    • Team Logistics: Track arrivals and departures in CPS, ensuring the safe arrival of all team members for rehearsals and scheduling transportation as needed. Assist with travel disruptions, deliver orientation sessions for new arrivals, conduct document checks for visas, passports, and Medical Fit For Duties, and arrange appointments with CBP for visa corrections. Provide in-person support for all team members and staff during operational hours.

    • Contract Scheduling: Partner with Casting and Booking leadership to plan and manage the primary schedule for rehearsals and onboard contracts for performers, technicians, and musicians.Meet regularly with C&B to coordinate contract scheduling for team members rehearsing in studios.

    • Apartment Management: Ensure health and safety standards at partnering apartment complexes. Oversee the well-being of team members residing at Carnival Studios and partnering apartment complexes. Communicate regularly with property managers.

    • Building Safety and Security: Conduct routine checks to ensure the safety and security of Carnival Studios during operations. Partner with a security vendor to establish comprehensive safety measures.

  • Team Leadership and Development:

    • Shoreside Leadership: Provide leadership to the Carnival Studios Operations team, fostering a collaborative, high-performance culture that supports entertainment operations. Lead by example with clear communication, accountability, and a commitment to operational excellence.

    • Cultural Essentials: Organize the monthly "Studio Star" to recognize outstanding team members. Promote Carnival's expected behaviors, such as speaking up, respecting and protecting, improving, communicating, listening and learning, and empowering. Encourage team members to share insights, challenges, and suggestions to enhance collaboration and operational success, while proactively resolving conflicts.

    • Human Resources: Collaborate with Shipboard HR to ensure shipboard protocols, celebrations, and initiatives are implemented at Carnival Studios.

    • DEI: Integrate diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) into all Production meetings and day to day operation to foster an inclusive workplace culture. Ensure each production aligns with the company’s DEI initiative, offering diverse entertainment that is relatable for both talent and guests.

  • Collaborate: 

    • Cross-Functional: Work with other Entertainment departments to support the alignment and consistency of studios operations. 

    • Senior Leadership: Work with entertainment teams and shoreside directors to align strategies with broader business goals, including NPS improvements and hotel operations.

    • Inter Company: Foster cross-functional collaboration with internal and external stakeholders including Facilities, Shipboard HR, Medical, Travel, Legal teams to ensure best practices and proper procedures are implemented and followed for team members while they are at Carnival Studios.Maintain relationship with sisterliness to share best practices.

  • Policy and Compliance: 

    • Safety Practices: Manage the Studios’ business continuity and hurricane/emergency action plans. Review and refine safety practices, create and enforce training programs, ensuring the highest level of guest and crew safety while maintaining operational integrity. Ensure teams are prepared to fulfill onboard safety-related duties.

    • Health: Lead regular review of facilities to ensure compliance with health and safety standards.

    • Compliance Adherence: Ensure full compliance with company policies and procedures, emphasizing safety protocols and operational standards as outlined by Global HESS (Health, Environment, Safety, and Security) OSHA and ADA guidelines.

    • Data Privacy and Background Checks: Protect personal information and support background checks for all vendors, partners, and contractors.

    • Immigration and Legal Compliance: Ensure the adherence of the immigration laws and regulations for each country so our Team Members are legally permitted to work onboard.

  • Program Evaluation

    • Data-Driven Decision Making: Leverage data and analytics to inform decisions and refine programs based on performance insights. KPI, Track trends, team member surveys, and operational metrics to enhance service delivery and team satisfaction. Modify operations to optimize guest satisfaction and operational efficiency.

  • Financial Accountability

    • Plan: Prepare and propose financial plans operating expenses exceeding $2M. Continuously monitor and adjust plans based on guest behavior, sourcing, and operational dynamics.

    • Resource Management: Establish clear usage guidelines for resources, inventory, and supplies to maximize efficiency for high-visibility events, seasonal holidays, and branded activations, ensuring timely and budget-compliant delivery. Lead initiatives focused on streamlining process and reducing expenses.

    • Vendor Management: Partner with Sourcing, Procurement, Purchasing, Legal, and Compliance teams to develop strategies, negotiate contracts, and manage vendor relationships. Optimize cost savings, ensure high-quality service, and identify and mitigate supply chain risks.

    • Travel and Expense: Manage personal and direct reports’ travel arrangements and expenses in line with Carnival Cruise Line’s policies. Ensure all travel is cost-effective and compliant, and submit expense reports promptly.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Performing Arts, Music, Theater, Production and Business, Facility Management

  • 5+ years of relevant experience

  • Must have a valid Florida driver’s license and a clean driving record. 

  • Must provide proof of valid car insurance.

  • Must have their own form of transportation.

  • Taking a pre-employment drug test, the result of which must be negative.

  • Software Proficiency: Proficient in Microsoft Office 365 applications, with advanced skills in Excel, Word Power Point.

  • Specialty Platform Experience: Experience with music software, scheduling software, and guest satisfaction surveys a plus Industry Experience: Experience managing music operations on a large-scale. A comprehensive understanding of the performance process from rehearsal to final product. Experience in cruise industry preferred. Preferred Education: Bachelor's Degree - Music Performance, Music Business and/or Education, Entertainment Management. 5-7+ years experience in a leadership role in a music institution. Inspiring and guiding the team towards achieving goals. Self-Directed: Capable of handling multiple tasks and projects independently.     

Physical Demands: Must be able to remain in a stationary position at a desk and/or computer for extended periods of time.Requires regular movement throughout CCL facilities. Must be able to lift in excess of 50 pounds.May need to stand for long periods of time.

Travel:No or very little travel likely

Work Conditions: Work primarily in a climate controlled environment with minimal safety/health hazard potential. Work may require employee to work inside and outside with exposure to changing climate and/or operate machinery.

This position is classified as “in-office.”Because of the nature of the role, employees are required to work from a designated Carnival office in South Florida five days each week.Candidates must be located in (or willing to relocate to) the Miami/Ft. Lauderdale area.
