Department Summary:
The Health Services team at Carnival Corporation is responsible for ensuring the health and well-being of both guests and crew across our global fleet. We partner with shoreside health services, onboard medical teams, and public health leaders to optimize health data and improve decision-making. Our team leverages data analytics and informatics to support health-related initiatives, enhance operational efficiency, and ensure compliance with health regulations. We manage electronic health records (EHR) across Carnival’s nine brands and collaborate with external healthcare system vendors to maintain and enhance health informatics solutions.
Objective:
The intern will support health data analytics efforts by collecting, cleaning, and analyzing data related to health services and electronic health records. The intern will assist in making data-driven recommendations to enhance EHR interfaces and provide insights for strategic decisions. Collaborating with the Health IT team and the EHR provider, the intern will help validate data and support the development of custom reporting interfaces for improved health informatics.
Essential Functions:
- Assist in the capture, cleaning, and analysis of health data across Carnival’s fleet.
- Collaborate with the Health IT team and EHR provider to enhance data entry processes and improve the EHR interface.
- Work closely with the Senior Coordinator, Health Informatics, to validate data and oversee training on EHR reporting tools.
- Prepare data extracts, assist with software upgrades, and manage databases to ensure data integrity.
- Develop visually appealing data visualizations and reports using tools like Power BI and Excel.
- Participate in daily check-ins using an agile project management approach to stay on track with project milestones.
Specific Qualifications:
Academic Background: Enrollment in a Bachelor's (Junior or Senior) or Master’s program in Data Analytics, Health Informatics, Marine Engineering, or a related field.
Skills: Proficient in data analysis tools such as Excel, Power BI, Python, R, and SAS. Strong analytical and research skills, attention to detail, and experience with data cleaning and pre-processing.
Additional Experience: Experience with health data, health informatics, or electronic health records (EHR) is preferred.
