Job ID 10059 Date posted 02/19/2025 City Miami State FL Country United States Job Type Full TimeThe Manager, Fleet General Accounting is a key contributor to the future success of Carnival Cruise Lines by providing a strong professional presence, financial accounting expertise, operational insight and leadership. In addition, this position partners with the management team, Operations, Internal Auditors, and other vendors to enhance processes and related controls.
Essential Functions:
- Oversee the timely and accurate posting of complex and adjusting journal entries for 27 ships across multiple cost centers and accounts.
- Lead the progress in streamlining the month-end close process through process
- enhancements and automation.
- Review and approve state sales and use tax returns, month-end balance sheet reconciliations, Sail and Sign Reconciliations, payments to vendors and other internal reporting deliverables to the business.
- Ensure that entries and related processes are in compliance with company policies and
- procedures.
- Provide insight, analysis, and reporting including key performance indicators to identify underlying opportunities and risks and drive continuous business improvement.
- Assist with the monthly financial close and reporting cycle by providing variance analyses,
- reconciliations and supporting details.
- Partner with various departments and maintain an effective operating process that ensures compliance with government regulations, audit requirements and other critical requests deemed appropriate for the department.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Finance or Accounting required
- Master's Degree preferred
- Minimum 5 to 7 years of related experience and managing a team of employees
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office
- Oracle experience preferred
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Familiar with standard concepts, practices and procedures of General Accounting while managing day-to-day operations.
- Able to rely on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals complying with Finance’s responsibility and core values.
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) required
- Skilled in public accounting, process improvements and controls
Physical Demands: Must be able to remain in a stationary position at a desk and/or computer for extended periods of time. Requires regular movement throughout CCL facilities.
Travel: Minimal or no travel
Work Conditions: Work primarily in a climate-controlled environment with minimal safety/health hazard potential.
This position is classified as “remote.” As a remote role, it allows employees to work full-time from their home. It may also require regular travel to Carnival headquarters in Miami, FL for in-office collaboration. Sourcing of candidates is primarily done in Carnival’s remote hubs of Orlando, Tampa, Atlanta, Houston, and Dallas. If the search is extended past those areas, candidates must be located in one of the following U.S. states: FL, GA, TX and NC
