Key Details:
Hybrid Program: This internship is a hybrid program based in Miami, Florida. Students must be available for the entire duration of the program and willing to work a hybrid schedule, combining both in-office and remote work. This is a full-time opportunity, with interns working 40 hours per week. While hours may vary, interns can expect to work from 9 AM to 5 PM, Monday through Friday.
Relocation Support: Carnival provides housing for interns who are relocating to Miami for the summer.
Eligibility: Juniors, seniors, and graduate students are preferred for the program.
Technical Requirements: Interns will be provided with a company-issued laptop and will need reliable internet when working remotely.
Fuel Performance and Decarbonization (CCL)
Department Summary
The Fuel Performance and Decarbonization (CCL) department is responsible for the fleet fuel forecasting and fuel consumption monitoring and reporting. We create different dashboards for a detailed power consumption breakdown as a tool provide guidance on performance optimization and best practices to the Shipboard Team. In addition, we keep the assets updated on the latest international regulations related to emissions and decarbonization, and support on the development of the specifications of new projects aiming to improve our fleet efficiency and collect data to validate the completed projects.
Internship Project Summary
Project Title: Fuel Performance and Decarbonization Internship
Objective: The intern will be given access to the set of the Ships equipment data available remotely and support on the creation of useful additional dashboards to monitor the data trend and assist our Shipboard Teams to improve their performances. The main subject includes, but is not limited to, the Hotel and Engine Machineries power readings, the analysis of the data accuracy to identify possible discrepancies and the development of consumption targets for the auxiliary machineries.
Essential Functions (Key Responsibilities)
Handling shipboard components data from main database.
Test different methods to predict consumptions in different operating conditions.
Find correlations between the data fluctuation and causes.
Support on development of project specification and automation logic upgrade.
Learning Outcomes
Learn how Cruise Ships machineries operate with opportunities for Ship visits.
Gain experience on big dataset forecasting and operational targets.
Learn international marine regulation for decarbonization and their impact on the operations.
Gain on-hands experience on how machineries automation logics are developed.
Specific Qualifications
Skills: Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
Preferred Experience: Knowledge in one or multiple fields between marine, mechanical, electrical or HVAC engineering or computer science.
Technical: Proficiency with Microsoft Office package, knowledge of PowerBi and basics on python coding.
