We are looking for an amazing Director, Employee Communications and Engagement to fill this role, which is based in our Doral office. The Director, Employee Communications and Engagement is responsible for developing and executing comprehensive internal communication strategies to enhance Princess cruises employee engagement, in alignment with Carnival Corporates' vision and goals. This role partners with Princess cruises Brand President and the Senior Leadership Team in managing communication channels, creating content, designing and executing PCL's communication strategy and engagement programs, and fostering a culture of open and transparent communication. The Director is a member of the Carnival Corporate internal communication team and works closely with the Carnival Corporate communication leader on overall company communication strategy and the deployment at Princess cruises. This role works closely with PCL HR, Marketing, Operations, PR, and Executive teams to ensure consistent messaging and effective communication across the organization. The ideal candidate will have strong leadership skills, excellent written and verbal communication abilities, experience in internal communications within a large organization, and a proven track record of developing and executing successful internal communication strategies.

Responsibilities
- Create and execute plans to ensure effective communication of company initiatives, updates, and key messages. This includes Princess cruises brand employee engagement programs, organization design interventions, crisis updates, company news, internal campaigns, and priorities progress for both ship and shore. Oversee the delivery of communications and related work products for internal and related audience groups. Sources and develop relationships with specialized communication third party agencies to ensure quality and execution of the programs.
- Design and deploy Princess cruises employee engagement strategy, events, initiatives, and programs by working closely with HR Business Partners and HR Officers to ensure highest levels of employee engagement, recognition, retention, and satisfaction. Aligns and improves employee branding touchpoints and employer value proposition to support the employee lifecycle and reputation as an employer of choice.
- Coach Princess cruises leaders on effective employee communication and building personal brand equity and public presence. Responsible for directing the team in designing and executing memos, speeches, town hall events, presentation decks, and delivering coaching, support, and training to employees to improve in meaningful areas related to communications, leadership, and productivity
- Leverage, manage, and optimize communications channels, data, technologies, and tools that deliver communications, receive feedback, and support employee processes. This includes automations, forms, and workflows; dynamic distribution lists; email, signage, and video content delivery, intranet and knowledge base platforms, generative AI, and technology projects.
- Use metrics and feedback to assess the impact of communication efforts and make improvements.
- The role will be required to address and solve complex communication challenges, such as ensuring message consistency and engagement across diverse employee groups. This may include changes to benefits, compensation, perks, or workplace, crisis and emergency incidents, company and department reorganizations, and individual workforce impacts.
- The role has a significant impact on employee engagement, morale, and alignment with the company's vision and goals. Work performed by the role will impact and support all business areas to align and drive the organization toward common business, cultural, operational, and strategic objectives.
- The role has a crucial responsibility and impact in ensuring that all internal communications adhere to organizational compliance standards, legal requirements, and ethical guidelines.
- The role has a significant impact on a culture of compliance due to protecting company information, leaderships reputation, and ensuring aligned tonality and content creation. This involves developing and implementing communication strategies that promote a culture of compliance and overseeing the accurate and ethical dissemination of information within the company.
- The role will lead a team of communication professionals, manage resources, and oversee G&A budget for three full time employees and third-party agencies for internal communication and engagement initiatives, both ship and shore, as well as co-lead employee-focused initiatives, programs, and strategies with decisions impacting immediate and long-term issues. Responsible for hiring, coaching, developing, and managing the performance of team members.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited higher learning program in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing or related field. Master’s degree in communication or other related fields preferred.
- 10+ years of corporate and/or internal communications experience with at least 5 years supervising the work of others.
- Strong leadership and team management skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
- Proficiency in using communication platforms and tools.
- Experience leading by influence in a complex and global organization.
- Highly proficient in content management systems, content planning, generative AI, Microsoft 365, and emerging communications technologies.
- Confident and creative world-class communicator and writer.
- Expert in crafting all forms of communication including spoken, written, video, event, social, and web.
- Ability to select and assertively communicate actions and activities that maximize organization performance. Understanding of the need to carefully evaluate the impact of emerging business situations and choose the best path forward.
- Effective problem solving and project management strategies and tactics.
- Ability to control, organize, and monitor projects and programs, ensuring efficient use of budgets, personnel, and resources.
- Ability to work in a complex, evolving, and fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
- Experience in developing and executing communication strategies.
Demonstrated ability to create engaging content for diverse audiences. - Experience in collaborating with multiple departments to ensure consistent messaging.
Proven track record of measuring and analyzing the effectiveness of communication efforts. - Must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Princess is unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of employment visas at this time (e.g., H-1B status).
This position is considered Hybrid and follows the Company’s schedule of three days in the office per week (Tuesday – Thursday). However, beginning in 2027, employees in this position will be required to work on-site at our new headquarters in Miami, FL.
