Department Summary: The Global Ports & Destination Development team oversees the development and operations of Carnival-owned destinations in the Caribbean, including Grand Turk, Mahogany Bay, Puerta Maya, Amber Cove, Half Moon Cay, Princess Cays, and exciting new developments like Celebration Key. GPDD ensures that these destinations meet Carnival’s high standards for guest experience, safety, and operational efficiency through comprehensive planning and execution of construction projects.

Internship Project Summary:

Project Title: Construction Project Engineering Support

Objective: The intern will assist in the planning, execution, and management of construction projects across Carnival’s global destinations. This includes developing project plans, tracking project activities, and maintaining clear communication with stakeholders to ensure projects meet quality, schedule, and budget goals.

Essential Functions:

  • Assist in developing comprehensive project plans, including timelines, budgets, and resource allocation.
  • Support scheduling efforts and keep project schedules updated.
  • Manage project documentation, including meeting minutes and reports.
  • Track submittals, RFIs, NCRs, and as-builts.
  • Support cost control measures, including budget forecasting and cost reporting.
  • Prepare RFPs and bid leveling documents.
  • Collaborate with the finance department for accurate project accounting.
  • Prepare project status updates and reports.
  • Foster strong client relationships and manage expectations.
  • Facilitate effective stakeholder communication.

Specific Qualifications:

Academic Background: Preferred studies in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field.

Skills: Strong project management, analytical, and organizational skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Suite, MS Project, and AutoCAD.

Preferred Experience: Interest in construction project management, familiarity with budgeting and scheduling processes, and strong communication and problem-solving abilities.
