The Casting & Booking Associate is responsible for supporting their supervisor in the recruitment, hiring, and scheduling of entertainment team members across the Carnival Cruise Line fleet. This role involves conducting auditions and/or interviews to find new talent, organizing the bidding and scheduling process for returning team members, and performing various administrative duties. These administrative tasks include maintaining talent databases and coordinating logistics of auditions and/or interviews. 

The Casting & Booking Associate plays a crucial role in ensuring a smooth and efficient casting process, contributing to the overall success of the entertainment team.

Essential Functions:

Program, Operations & Innovation

  • Recruiting: Based on the Casting & Booking Associate's professional area of expertise (Production Cast, Technicians, Musicians, Entertainment Experience/Youth Programs), this role will conduct global in-person/virtual auditions or interviews to find the best new talent for shipboard positions in the Entertainment department. The Associate will ensure all applicants receive a timely response from Carnival Entertainment. Strategically cast team members based on knowledge of shipboard product and individual’s skill set.
  • Scheduling: Maintain discipline schedules and individuals’ movement in the Crew Personnel System for 1000+ team members. Prepare returning staff for their contracts to help ensure success. This role also involves coordinating with various departments to ensure accurate and timely updates to schedules, managing any changes or conflicts that arise. Ensure that all team members are informed of their schedules and adjust schedules as needed to accommodate any last-minute changes or emergencies.
  • Communication: Coordinate and communicate with team members, ships, agents, and other departments via email and phone in a positive and productive manner to improve overall satisfaction. Address and resolve any communication-related issues promptly to maintain smooth operations.

Teamwork

  • Environment: Participate in team meetings with Casting & Booking as well as Entertainment Operations to encourage collaboration and idea sharing. Support the Casting & Booking Supervisor during casting and scheduling meetings with Entertainment Operations, which occur on a weekly basis. Foster a positive team environment by recognizing individual contributions and promoting a culture of mutual respect and support.

Encourage team members to share their insights, challenges, and suggestions to enhance collaboration and operational success, while proactively resolving conflicts.

Ensure that DEI principles are embedded in every aspect of the recruitment process, from job postings to candidate selection and onboarding.

Collaborate

  • Cross Functional: Work with other Entertainment departments to support the alignment and consistency of shipboard entertainment across the fleet.
  • Inter Company: Regularly liaise with other Carnival Departments (Medical, Travel, Crew Operations, HR, etc.) to advance team members toward a positive start of their contract aboard a ship.

Safety & Compliance

  • Immigration and Legal Compliance: Ensure adherence to immigration laws and regulations of each country by communicating effectively with foreign port authorities. Collaborate closely with Management and Shipboard HR to ensure all Entertainment Team Members are legally permitted to work onboard. 
  • Safety Practices: Embrace safety practices and attend training programs, ensuring the highest level of guest and crew safety while maintaining operational integrity. Ensure teams are prepared to fulfill onboard safety-related duties.
  • Compliance Adherence: Ensure full compliance with company policies and procedures, emphasizing safety protocols and operational standards as outlined by Global HESS (Health, Environment, Safety, and Security) and ADA guidelines.
  • Data Privacy and Background Checks: Protect the personal information of shipboard entertainment team members and prospective candidates by maintaining robust data security measures. Support the process for maintaining background checks so they are in compliance with Carnival Cruise Line's onboarding procedures. 
  • Cabin Coordination: As needed, the Casting & Booking Associate will coordinate with Shipboard HR to ensure cabin assignments for shipboard entertainment team members.

Program Evaluation

  • Data-Driven Decision Making: Leverage data and analytics to recommend program adjustments. Review trends, KPI, and operational metrics with the Casting and Booking Manager to enhance recruiting, talent onboarding, and scheduling efforts.

Financial Accountability

  • Travel and Expense: Manage personal and direct reports’ travel arrangements and expenses in line with Carnival Cruise Line’s policies. Ensure all travel is cost-effective and compliant, and submit expense reports promptly

Qualifications:

  • Associate’s degree in Entertainment, Recreation, Tourism, Hospitality, Organizational Development, Human Resources, Administrative Support
  • 3+ years working in entertainment, preferably with a focus on recruitment or scheduling.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Software Proficiency: Proficiency in PowerPoint and Microsoft 365 office products. Database experience is preferred. 
  • Industry Experience: Professional experience in one of the following areas: Technical Theatre, Dance Performance, Vocal Performance, Music, Hosted Events, or Youth Programs.
  • Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills for effective interaction with team members, vendors, and stakeholders.
  • Time Management: Strong ability to manage time efficiently to meet deadlines and keep projects on track.
  • Organization: Skilled in setting priorities and maintaining well-organized tasks and projects.
  • Project Management: Proficient in project management principles and capable of multitasking.
  • Adaptability: Flexible and able to adjust to changing circumstances and handle unexpected challenges.
  • Attention to Detail: Meticulous in ensuring accuracy and thoroughness in all tasks.
  • Teamwork: Collaborative and willing to work with others to achieve common goals.
  • Self-Directed: Capable of handling multiple tasks and projects independently.

Physical Demands:Must be able to remain in a stationary position at a desk and/or computer for extended periods of time.

Travel:Less than 25% non-shipboard travel likely

Work Conditions:Work primarily in a climate-controlled environment with minimal safety/health hazard potential.

This position is classified as “remote.”  As a remote role, it allows employees to work full-time from their home. It may also require regular travel to Carnival headquarters in Miami, FL for in-office collaboration.  Sourcing of candidates is primarily done in Carnival’s remote hubs of Orlando, Tampa, Atlanta, Houston, and Dallas.  If the search is extended past those areas, candidates must be located in one of the following U.S. states:  FL, GA, TX and NC
