Job ID 13328 Date posted 06/25/2026 City Miami State FL Country United States Job Type Full TimeThe Senior Accountant at Global Accounting & Reporting Services is responsible for various corporate accounting tasks and controls. This position plays an integral role in ensuring external and intercompany transactions are evaluated and accounted for properly and assists with the global consolidation process within Oracle R12 accounting system, including preparation of journals, balance sheet reconciliations and SOX controls. The Senior Accountant works closely with financial staff at the OPCOs, Global Financial Technology and other corporate departments to facilitate a timely and efficient financial statement close process, assists with maintenance of system-generated reports and provides technical accounting expertise. The ideal candidate will have strong professional presence, communication, and collaboration skills and be able to work effectively across multiple levels in the organization and take ownership of their work, driving tasks to completion and meeting deadlines.
Essential Functions:
Performs the month-end close process for the corporate team, including preparation of journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations in accordance with global policies, global monitoring controls, Oracle General Ledger closing functions and monthly data load from the Oracle General Ledger to the Hyperion/Essbase reporting system.
Liaisons with Global Treasury, provides support and ensures proper accounting for debt and derivatives transactions. Analyzes new accounting standards and assess their impact. Maintains the debt portfolio within the treasury management system.
Performs intercompany accounting processes including liaison with both Corporate and OPCOs staff to resolve any queries. As part of the month-end consolidation process, monitors intercompany balances to ensure no material out-of-balance issues.
Prepares workpapers supporting the accounting for relevant areas, compiles disclosure support for the financial statements, coordinates information and data requests from internal and external auditors to facilitate completion of the audit, ensuring that all deadlines are met.
Performs system maintenance activities for Oracle, Hyperion and Blackline. Assists with projects aimed at further process automation, including collaboration with the Global Financial Systems team and testing of new systems functionality.
Assists with special projects and performs other duties, as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Scope: This role has broad responsibility across Carnival Corporation’s global accounting and reporting organization, supporting enterprise-wide financial close, consolidation, debt accounting, and financial reporting activities. The position interfaces with treasury, financial planning, tax, technical accounting, financial technologies, and operating unit finance teams globally.
Problem Solving The role requires interpretation and application of accounting guidance, resolution of financial reporting issues, identification of process improvement opportunities, and management of high-volume recurring deliverables under tight deadlines.
Impact: This position directly impacts the integrity and accuracy of consolidated financial statements, regulatory reporting, and executive management reporting while supporting strategic finance initiatives and maintaining strong internal controls.
Leadership: Provides leadership across the accounting organization through cross-functional collaboration and completion of critical accounting processes and system initiatives.
Essential/Minimum qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field
CPA, Chartered Accountant, or equivalent professional certification preferred
While not required, the following emerging technology competencies would complement core sourcing capabilities and accelerate value delivery
Essential Experience:
Professional with public accounting firm or similar experience in a large SEC company
Travel: No or very little travel likely
Work Conditions: Work primarily in a climate-controlled environment with minimal safety/health hazard potential.
Physical Demands Must be able to remain in a stationary position at a desk and/or computer for extended periods of time.
This position is classified as “in-office.” As an in-office role, it requires employees to work from a designated Carnival office in South Florida Monday through Thursday each week. Employees may work from their homes on Fridays. Candidates must be located in (or willing to relocate to) the Miami/Ft. Lauderdale area.
