The Assistant Manager of Long Beach Cruise Terminal helps oversee daily terminal and parking garage operations, ensures facility standards are met, streamlines passenger processing, and delivers quality customer service. 

Essential Functions:

  • Oversee daily operations of the Cruise Terminal, Parking Garage Facility, and related parking. Coordinate with Carnival departments, government agencies, and ship personnel to maintain efficient terminal operations. Manage service provider relationships and performance.                                                                    
  • Manage service contracts and projects in defining scope of work, full bid review and project management. Administration of permitting and inspections by Fire Inspector, city building Inspection, USCG, city of Long Beach & Port of Long Beach, Utility Services, and all other building service providers & port partners.          
  • Provide comprehensive operational support to the various Long Beach CCL operational departments, including Guest Port Services related to guest embarkation and debarkation, by ensuring all processes are executed accurately and promptly. Coordinate vessel operations from a terminal support standpoint in collaboration with Shipboard and Shore Side Management both onboard and at the Miami Head Office. Foster a cohesive work environment that upholds Carnival Core Values among all staff and business partners, including stevedores, port agents, and port service contractors. Facilitate coordination of requirements among all port partners to enhance quality and operational efficiency.
  • Coordinate with the Long Beach Terminal Manager in the role of Alternate Facility Security Officer and Administrator of the Facility Security Plan. Work with CCL Security Services to regularly verify the effectiveness of security services.                                               
  • Keeping up with industry changes and ensuring terminal compliance with applicable laws and regulations.                                                                 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business and Operations Experience, Port Operations, Marine Operations or related fields.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in the Cruise Ship, Maritime or Associated Industry.
  • Experience working with Government Agencies.
  • Port Operations, Shipboard Cruise Ship Operations, Maritime, or Nautical Operations & Security Services Experience.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
  • Strong leadership and customer service skills, as well as the ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills, both written and verbal. 
  • Ability to converse well and partner with local government agencies and shipboard & shoreside operations. 
  • Knowledge of budgets. 
  • Highly motivated and able to work under own initiative.

Physical Demands: Requires regular movement throughout company facilities.

Travel: No or very little travel likely

Work Conditions:Work may require employee to work inside and/or outside with exposure to changing climate and/or operate machinery.

This position is classified as “in-office.” Because of the nature of the role, employees are required to work from a designated Carnival office in South Florida five days each week.  Candidates must be located in (or willing to relocate to) the Miami/Ft. Lauderdale area.
