Your Responsibilities

 ​

The Specialist Energy Optimization Support is responsible for enhancing energy efficiency of a fleet of cruise ships. He/She introduces the in-house developed optimization tools to the onboard users, gathers feedback, makes sure the system works and is accurate, and ensures the users are not left alone

  • Conduct onboarding training, and regular follow-up sessions with shipboard personnel to ensure effective use of tools. Provide continuous support to ship crews, addressing questions, and resolving issues related to the tools
  • Act as the primary contact for collecting feedback from onboard users and translating it into actionable insights for the development team. Serve as a translator between development team and maritime operations, ensuring mutual understanding and alignment                                                        
  • Communicate the essentials of digital energy efficiency tools, how they impact the total efficiency of a cruise ship, and exchange with captains and chief engineers for their ideas and wishes
  • Conduct comprehensive data analysis related to efficient ship operation in terms of any maritime discipline like hydrodynamic, machinery, navigation, operations etc, providing actionable insights to ship and shore-based experts to drive improvements, and communicate these to various stakeholders
  • Work closely together with software developers and data scientists to productize the ideas and concepts to the software suite

Your Profile

  • Bachelor’s degree in Naval Architecture, Marine Engineering, or a related field. Additional degree in Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, or similar is a plus
  • At least 3 years of experience in maritime technical operations, either onboard vessels or in a technical office
  • Solid understanding of physics and a keen interest in physical systems, especially in energy and fluid dynamics
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical capabilities
  • Proficiency in data analysis and familiarity with data science tools (preferred but not mandatory):
    • Python programming
    • Libraries such as scikit-learn, pandas, polars, or NumPy
    • Machine learning frameworks like PyTorch
    • MLOps practices and tools
    • Data visualization, exploratory analytics, and storytelling
  • Good knowledge of ship systems, technical equipment, and their integration
  • Experience in training or support roles is an advantage
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team
  • Very good English language skills (English is our company language). Basic knowledge of Italian is a plus
