Your Responsibilities

Join our dynamic team as a Manager Research & Development in the decarbonisation department, where you'll play a key role in initiating, managing, and executing research and development projects focused on reducing greenhouse gas emissions across our fleet. This role drives innovation in energy efficiency and low-emission technologies, oversees ship-based demonstrator implementations, and builds strong collaborations with internal and external stakeholders to support Carnival Maritime’s decarbonisation strategy.

  • Oversee the planning and execution of R&D initiatives, from ideation to delivery, ensuring milestones and budgets are met
  • Manage onboard demonstrator installations, stakeholder coordination, and reporting (including for funding agencies)
  • Build and maintain partnerships with research institutions, universities, vendors, and external agencies
  • Monitor global market trends, regulatory developments, and industry innovations relevant to maritime decarbonisation
  • Conduct technoeconomic assessments, and execute feasibility studies for high potential candidates
  • Produce clear documentation, presentations, and strategic recommendations based on core KPIs (e.g. ROI, MAC)
  • Drive cross-departmental collaboration and foster synergy between brands, ship crew, and corporate functions
  • Contribute creative, realistic, and strategic ideas to improve fleet sustainability and resilience
  • Support internal analyses and evaluations linked to the decarbonisation roadmap


Your Profile

  • Master’s degree in Marine Engineering, Naval Architecture, Energy Systems Engineering, or related field
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in marine R&D, energy systems, or innovation project management
  • Proven experience executing complex technical projects, including onboard implementation
  • Deep understanding of energy conversion, propulsion, thermal and electrical ship systems
  • Proficiency in engineering and simulation tools; coding skills are an asset
  • Strong entrepreneurial mindset, capable of owning workstreams and leading diverse project teams
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and strategic thinking skills
  • Clear and effective communicator; skilled in stakeholder engagement and cross-functional teamwork
  • Knowledge of HESS regulations and commitment to health, safety, and environmental standards
  • Fluent in English; German and/or Italian language skills are beneficial
