Job Description


Senior Accountant to prepare financial reports, perform research and analysis, prepare payroll and maintain the general ledger at one or more of Carnival Corporation's owned and operated global destinations. The Senior Accountant will report to the Assistant Controller for The Bahamas private destinations.

1. Financial Reporting & General Ledger Management 

  • Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial reports in accordance with company standards and GAAP across assigned destinations.
  • Record and maintain daily financial transactions for multiple destinations and business units, including but not limited to:
  • Accounts Receivable (AR)
  • Accounts Payable (AP)
  • Banking activity and reconciliations
  • Vendor reconciliations
  • Daily revenue entries, including review and posting
  • Prepare and maintain monthly reconciliations of general ledger accounts for all operating destinations.
  • Finalize monthly accrual schedules and ensure accurate posting of journal entries.
  • Support the monthly and annual close processes, ensuring deadlines and accuracy are consistently met.

2. Audit Support & Regulatory Compliance

  • Assist with internal and external audit requests by preparing accurate schedules and documentation for all relevant destinations.
  • Prepare year-end audit packages including reconciliations, trial balances, and supporting schedules.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, financial procedures, and all applicable local and federal regulations at each destination.
  • Maintain a strong internal control environment across operations to prevent errors and ensure accuracy.
  • Stay updated on accounting laws and reporting requirements relevant to all jurisdictions in which the company’s destinations operate.

3. Payroll & Transactional Processing 

  • Collect, validate, and process payroll data for employees across multiple destinations, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
  • Coordinate with HR for updates affecting payroll, including new hires, terminations, and benefit changes at different destinations.
  • Post payroll-related journal entries and ensure alignment with general ledger records.
  • Reconcile payroll liabilities and deductions on a destination-by-destination basis.
  • Ensure strict confidentiality and secure handling of payroll and employee data.

4. Business Partnership, Communication

  • Collaborate with department heads and on-site teams across various destinations to ensure financial data is accurate, complete, and timely.
  • Provide financial insights, variance analysis, and budget support to operational leaders for informed decision-making.
  • Assist the Assistant Controller and Finance leadership with financial planning, special projects, and system improvements across all destination locations.
  • Take initiative in identifying and implementing process improvements and automation within the accounting function.
  • Perform other related accounting duties as assigned in support of destination operations and corporate finance objectives.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Essential/Minimum qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree preferred in accounting, finance, or equivalent experience.
  • 5-8 years of general corporate accounting experience.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and analytical skills.
  • Strong data entry and basic mathematical skills.
  • Great attention to detail.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite (Excel, Work, Outlook, PowerPoint, etc.)
