Job Summary
The IT/AV Technician installs, maintains, and repairs radio communication systems. The ideal candidate will have experience working with two-way radios, transmitters, receivers, and related equipment. This role requires strong technical skills, problem-solving abilities, and a commitment to ensuring reliable communication systems for operational efficiency and safely.
Key Accountabilities / Job Functions:
The IT/AV Technician is responsible for, but not limited to the following:
AV Support
- Set up, operate, and maintain AV equipment (projectors, microphones, speakers, video monitors, recording equipment, etc.
- Install and configure AV systems in conference rooms, classrooms, or event spaces.
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues during live events or meetings.
- Collaborate with IT teams and event coordinators to ensure seamless AV integration.
- Maintain inventory and perform routine maintenance on AV equipment.
- Train staff and end-users on AV system usage and basic troubleshooting.
- Install, configure, and test radio communication systems including base stations, mobile units, and repeaters.
- Perform routine maintenance and diagnostics on radio equipment to ensure optimal performance.
- Troubleshoot and repair faults in analog and digital radio systems.
- Monitor signal strength and quality, adjusting as needed.
- Maintain accurate records of installations, repairs, and maintenance activities.
- Ensure compliance with FCC regulations and other applicable standards.
- Collaborate with engineers, IT teams, and field personnel to support communication needs.
- Provide technical support and training to end-users on radio equipment usage.
IT Support
- Serves as the first point of contact for IT support within the organization.
- Installing, configuring, and maintaining software and hardware components of computer and network systems.
- Repairing and replacing damaged computer and network components.
- Ensuring the security of client and server computers by installing and upgrading antivirus and firewall software.
- Supporting fellow employees, support teams and visiting technicians whenever they encounter challenges with computers and network devices.
- Testing new hardware and software before full-scale installation.
Maintenance
- Maintenance and administration of network equipment, PCs, POS Terminal such as Latitudes, Shorex. Cheq, Symphony, and other end user computer equipment.
- Maintain the inventory for IT equipment.
- Maintaining and updating technical documentation regularly.
- Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance on AV equipment to ensure optimal performance and longevity.
- Diagnose and repair faults in audio, video, and control systems.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance schedules, repairs, and equipment inventory.
- Update firmware and software for AV devices and control systems.
- Replace or repair damaged cables, connectors, and other hardware components.
- Monitor system performance and proactively identify potential issues.
- Coordinate with vendors or service providers for specialized repairs or warranty services.
- Ensure all AV systems are clean, properly stored, and safely secured when not in use.
- Conduct regular inspections and preventive maintenance on radio systems and components.
- Replace or repair defective parts such as antennas, cables, batteries, and circuit boards.
- Calibrate and align radio frequencies and equipment to manufacturer specifications.
- Maintain inventory of spare parts and tools.
- Keep detailed logs of maintenance schedules, service reports, and equipment status.
- Coordinate with vendors for specialized repairs or warranty services.
Troubleshooting
- Troubleshooting in Windows operating systems and Microsoft Office software.
- Diagnosing and troubleshooting software and hardware issues.
Quality Control & Compliance
- Assist with project rollouts and conduct quality control checks of new technology or enhancements to existing systems to ensure desired operability.
- Support compliance with site IT policies, procedures, and standards.
- Continuously assist with improving the IT team’s technical and customer service skills and join in collaborative discussions.
- Assist the IT Supervisor with tasks as requested.
Perform other duties as assigned.
