Your Responsibilities
- Conduct onboard inspections of external ship structures, open decks, balcony areas, LSA cranes/ davits/ launching appliances and weather-exposed steel surfaces to assess coating conditions, identify corrosion, and verify compliance with company standards.
- Prepare inspection reports with technical findings, risk assessments, photographic documentation, and practical corrective action recommendations.
- Deliver onboard practical and classroom training on surface preparation, corrosion prevention, paint application techniques, coating inspection, and quality control.
- Support shipboard management in developing paint maintenance and preservation plans, identifying priorities, and improving long-term asset preservation.
- Promote fleet-wide coating standards and best practices while collaborating with shipboard teams, coating manufacturers. Suppliers, shipyards, and shore-based technical departments.
- Analyze coating performance, recurring defects, and maintenance effectiveness to drive continuous improvement across the fleet.
- Perform other duties as assigned while complying with Carnival policies, procedures, and HESS requirements.
Your Profile
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree or Technical Diploma in Marine Engineer, Coating Technology, Surface Protection, Materials Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Equivalent marine industry experience will also be considered.
Professional & Experience:
- Minimum 5-10 years of practical experience in marine coating and preservation
- Previous experience as Paint Supervisor, Marine Preservation Specialist, Coating Inspector, Paint Foreman, or similar.
- Experience working onboard cruise ships or commercial vessels is highly preferred.
- Strong knowledge of corrosion control, coating systems, surface preparation, and quality assurance.
Professional Skills:
- Extensive knowledge of marine coating systems and international coating standards.
- Ability to diagnose coating failures and recommend practical corrective actions.
- Excellent report writing and technical documentation skills.
- Strong planning, organizational, and analytical abilities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
- Ability to travel extensively and work independently onboard multiple vessels.
Certifications:
Preferred certifications include:
- NACE Coating Inspector (Level 1 or above)
- FROSIO Coating Inspector
- SSPC Protective Coatings Specialist
- MEWP/ Cherry Picker
