We’re looking for an amazing Senior Ship Superintendent to fill this role, which is based in our Fort Lauderdale office. You’ll be responsible for ensuring timely support of company ships on all technical operating issues and collaborating with other departments within Fleet Operations and brands. This support would include management of allocated repair and maintenance expenses against budget, oversight of technical purchases and deliveries, planning and management of dry-dock and wet-dock repairs/renovations including writing specifications, and regulatory requirements. In this role the Sr. Ship superintendent will report to the Fleet Director in an assigned Pod.

Responsibilities

  • Act as the Technical shore side vessel manager and be the main shore side point of contact, coordinating all repair and maintenance activities for their assigned vessel/s.
  • Ensure that all certification relevant to the ships' continued operation is complete, updated and promptly available.
  • Monitor all ships' documents and certificates and organizing ships' visits for relevant personnel when due for renewal. Support ships staff to ensure certification is kept up to date and all pertinent services are planned and completed in required time frames.
  • Follow up and ensure prompt action of incidents, create corrective and preventative plans for audit items, ship management report findings, non-conformances and marine casualty reports related to the vessels under their or delegated responsibility.
  • Planning and preparing dry-dock specifications, overseeing ship repair and maintenance work during refit periods or as directed by Fleet Director, Technical Operations.
  • Verify and approving ship's requisitions for spares, service, and consumables, issuing shore side requests for materials and service, as needed. 
  • Cooperating with Technical supply chain staff for evaluation of suppliers, new products proposals, and development of new resources, and ensure that the required spare parts and or services are provided in a timely manner, at a cost-effective price and to the company’s agreed purchasing and logistics procedures.
  • Liaise with electrical superintendent, hotel interior superintendent, other HA-group departments, the Brands, to make sure that their technical requirements are understood and actioned in a timely manner.
  • Investigating, recording & reporting all major deviations from the budget in consultation with the financial analyst to Fleet Director, Technical Operations
  • Visit assigned vessel/s at least twice per year to inspect, review, and monitor the technical condition of the vessel. Reports and action plans to rectify items identified during ships visit to be generated and provide to Fleet Director for review/approval. One of these visits of their respective vessel/s is during the Annual PSSC Renewal Surveys when possible, ship sale visits or as requested by Senior Technical management.
  • Review all third-party survey assist in ensure that all reported defects are corrected. This includes recommendations following third party service and surveys that are entered into maintenance system and resources provided to designated maintenance officer to complete in a timely manner.
  • Monitor lubricating oil consumption & analysis reports. Maintain detailed files for all dry docks/wet docks, special projects and technical incidents on vessels under their responsibility or as directed.


Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree - Marine Engineering
  • 7 to 10 years of progressive, licensed experience afloat, preferably at least to the level of chief engineer, chief electrician on vessels with AC Diesel-Electric propulsion and in managing a shoreside vessel maintenance program.
  • Familiarity with application of Class Society and Flag State rules.
  • Project Management skills and experience.
  • Strong communication, problem solving, and PC skills needed.
  • Experience with data analytics, Microsoft office 365 applications or Tableau. 
  • Familiarity with the current versions of AMOS and AMOS based applications preferred.
  • Ship superintendency course & Leadership development course preferred.

This position is considered Hybrid and follows the Company’s schedule of three days in the office per week (Tuesday – Thursday). However, beginning in 2027, employees in this position will be required to work on-site at our new headquarters in Miami, FL.

  • Base Salary Range: $99,900.00 to $134,800.00. The range is applicable for the labor market where the role is intended to be hired. Final base salary is directly related to each candidates' qualifications and experience uniquely.
