Job Description


The Site Physician oversees and manages the health and well-being of our team members.  This role involves delivering comprehensive occupational, preventative, and emergency medical care to employees, ensuring a safe and healthy work environment, and promoting overall employee wellness.  

Celebration Key includes a variety of world-leading amenities such as pristine beaches, lagoons, swim-up bars, water activities, food and beverage, retail, and cultural exhibits.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

The Site Physician is responsible for, but not limited to the following: 

  • Providing direct medical care for work-associated injuries and illnesses, including emergency response and follow-up care.
  • Conducting pre-employment, periodic, and return-to-work medical evaluations.
  • Developing and implementing preventative health programs, including vaccinations, health screenings and wellness initiatives.
  • Educating employees on health maintenance, disease prevention and workplace safety practices.
  • Monitoring and managing occupational health risks, including exposure to hazardous materials and ergonomic concerns.
  • Supporting ship medical staff with on-island emergency response for guests and employees while ships are in port.
  • Supervising, scheduling, measuring performance, and training of any direct reports such as nursing staff.
  • Supporting recruitment activities including conducting clinical interviews with potential medical staff.
  • Collaborating with safety officers, HR, public health, and management to ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.
  • Maintaining accurate medical records and documentation in accordance with legal and ethical standards.
  • Participating in the development of health policies and emergency preparedness plans.
  • Providing data, reports, and support as requested by leadership.
  • Building and maintaining relationships with local healthcare providers to facilitate rapid access to needed care by employees and guests.
  • Collaborating with Carnival Corporation’s Health Operations Center (HOC) to optimize care provided for employees, guests, and crew.
  • Monitoring expenses and securing equipment/goods.
  • Ensuring proper accountability and storage of all pharmaceuticals including controlled drugs.
  • Assist the General Manager with any other job-related tasks as requested.

EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Medical degree with a valid physician license to practice medicine in the Bahamas.
  • A minimum of five (5) years of experience in a clinical healthcare setting involving general practice, primary care, internal medicine, urgent care, emergency medicine and/or occupational medicine.
  • Strong knowledge of primary and emergency care.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

SKILLS AND SPECIFICATIONS

  • Excellent and detailed medical documentation on paper and/or electronic medical records.
  • Proficiency in the use of computer business applications, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Power Point) and report writing.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively communicate with culturally diverse teams.
  • Self-sufficient and able to work independently.
  • Strong leadership and people management skills.
  • Great organizational and multitasking abilities.
  • High-level of attention to detail.

LANGUAGE REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to speak English clearly, distinctly, and cordially with employees, third parties and guests.
  • Ability to read and write English to understand and interpret written procedures. This includes the ability to give and receive instructions in written and verbal forms and to effectively present information and respond to questions from employees, guests, and leadership.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be physically fit.
  • Ability to work in an outdoor environment.
  • Ability to multi-task and think critically.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS

  • Work may require employees to work inside and outside with exposure to changing climate and/or operate machinery.
  • May be required to work shifts and respond to out-of-hours emergencies.
