The Assistant General Manager assists in managing all leadership, strategic and operational aspects of RelaxAway, Half Moon Cay to ensure company, divisional and site performance objectives are met or exceeded by performing the following essential duties and responsibilities. This position assists in the management of multi-layered general management, operations and administration teams and is responsible for the associated performance management, coaching and learning and professional development.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Assistant General Manager, is responsible for the following:

  • Ensuring world-class guest experience is executed according to standards and needs defined by Carnival Cruise Lines and work closely with Carnival Cruise Lines counterparts to provide feedback and refine experience to maximize guest satisfaction and revenue.
  • Accountable for guest satisfaction and associated quality assurance procedures, overseeing the management, delivery, measurement, and improvement.
  • Primary point of contact with ship teams to ensure seamless transition between ship and shore experience and to resolve any issues that arise.
  • Direct oversight of teams responsible for Guest Services, Cabanas, Beach Club, Water Activities, Entertainment, Guest transportation, Water safety/ lifeguards, Security, housekeeping and cleaning, landscaping, inventory management and purchasing, marine operations (e.g., mooring), maintenance, utilities production, health/ environmental/ safety standards. General Manager will also work very closely with shared-service teams responsible for HR, engineering, and finance.
  • Management of 3rd party food & beverage and retail partners to ensure they meet all our operational and guest experience standards.
  • Work with local partners to ensure operational needs are met (utilities, police, customs and immigration, medical services, waste management, etc.).
  • Implements and maintains the annual operating plan to ensure on an on-going basis optimum total guest satisfaction, expense management and operational efficiencies. Reviews budget reports and drives initiatives for improved efficiencies.
  • Manages overarching controls associated with labor and operating expenses through effective planning, budgeting, purchasing decisions, policy making, and inventory control while focusing on creative cost control and revenue generation solutions to maximize profit.
  • Ensures delivery of health and safety procedures, including overarching oversight of HESS plan and communication plans and protocols.
  • Responsible for the development and accountability RelaxAway, Half Moon Cay leadership team, monitoring their performance according to the company standards and partnering to ensure their professional development.
  • Ensures compliance with all legal aspects and legislation in The Bahamas in terms of permits, licenses, Labor law regulations or any other requirements.
  • Establishes and maintains a prominent level of visibility and involvement throughout the destination and in business, social and governmental communities as appropriate.

QUALIFICATIONS
HIRING REQUIREMENTS

  • A minimum of 15 years of progressive leadership experience in an operational role in a world-leading hospitality company.
  • Previous experience in international environments leading theme-park operations or multi-national hospitality properties (large resorts, hotels, cruise destinations) is required.
  • Strong guest experience background in the following is strongly preferred:
  • Managing guest amenities such as a beach club, large lagoons, water parks is strongly preferred.
  • Managing food & beverage and retail operations is strongly preferred.
  • Process improvement and industrial engineering principles for operational efficiencies is strongly preferred.
  • Experience working in the Bahamas or English-speaking Caribbean is strongly preferred.
  • Experience managing public health, environmental, safety, and security standards and procedures is strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated leadership capabilities managing large teams with strong guest service and experience background.
  • Knowledge of the principles and processes involved in business and organizational planning, coordination and execution. This includes strategic planning, resource allocation, manpower modeling, leadership techniques and production methods.
  • Ability to lead an international staff in a positive and productive manner, partnering to ensure professional development and employee engagement.
  • Bachelor's degree in hospitality management, business administration, industrial engineering or related field from an accredited college or university or the international equivalent preferred.

LANGUAGE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to speak English clearly, distinctly, and cordially with employees and
  • Ability to read and write English in order to understand and interpret written procedures. This includes the ability to give and receive instructions in written and verbal forms and to effectively present information and respond to questions from guests, managers, and co-workers.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to touch, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk or hear; and taste and smell. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
  • All island employees must be physically able to participate in emergency lifesaving procedures and drills. Full use/range of motion of arms and legs as well as full visual, verbal and hearing abilities are required to receive and give instructions in the event of an emergency.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to travel within the Bahamas, across the Caribbean islands and to the United States, particularly to our Carnival Corporation & plc corporate headquarters in Miami.
  • Active United States Visa, if required to travel to these
  • Flexible work hours including weekend hours, as required.

This position is based at RelaxAway Half Moon Cay, located on the island of Little San Salvador. It follows a rotational schedule, including designated periods of work with on-site company-provided housing, followed by scheduled time off off-island. While this role may support both RelaxAway Half Moon Cay and Princess Cays on Eleuthera, its primary location is firmly on Little San Salvador.
