Assistant Manager, Food & Beverage – Holland America Denali Lodge

We’re looking for an amazing Food & Beverage Assistant Manager to fill this role, which is based in our Denali, AK office. You’ll be responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the food and beverage department. The Assistant Manager, Food and Beverage will work closely with the kitchen and service teams to ensure seamless operations and exceptional guest experiences. The ideal candidate will have strong leadership skills, excellent communication abilities, and a background in hospitality management.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and support food and beverage staff, including scheduling, training, and performance evaluations.
  • Ensure high levels of customer satisfaction by addressing complaints, resolving issues, and providing exceptional service.
  • Monitor and manage inventory levels, order supplies, and ensure proper storage and handling of food and beverages.
  • Maintain high standards of food and beverage quality, presentation, and hygiene.
  • Assist in budgeting, cost control, and financial reporting for the food and beverage department.
  • The Assistant Manager, Food and Beverage plays a crucial role in the overall success of the food and beverage department, impacting both shore and fleet operations.
  • Address and resolve complex customer complaints, staff issues, and operational challenges efficiently.
  • Directly influences customer satisfaction, staff performance, and financial outcomes within the department.
  • Provide strong leadership to the food and beverage team, fostering a positive work environment and promoting professional development. 

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in hospitality management, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Certification in food safety and hygiene.                                                                                 
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a supervisory role within the food and beverage industry.
  • Proven track record of managing staff, inventory, and customer service in a high-volume environment.
  • Strong understanding of financial management and budgeting in a hospitality setting.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.  Holland America Line/Princess is unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of employment visas at this time (e.g., H-1B status).
