General Maintenance Worker (Laborer)

Job Summary

Under the general direction of the Maintenance Manager, the General Maintenance worker is responsible for maintaining all buildings, equipment, swimming pools, restrooms, and surrounding areas of the Grand Turk Cruise Center (GTCC). The role ensures that facilities remain safe, clean, functional, and visually appealing to support a world-class guest experience.

Key Responsibilities

Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following and may be amended from time to time:

  • Maintain all GTCC buildings, plazas, cabañas, carretas, and facilities in optimal condition
  • Develop and maintain thorough knowledge of GTCC equipment, systems, and infrastructure
  • Operate mechanical and maintenance equipment to ensure longevity and proper function
  • Perform routine maintenance and repairs to buildings, restrooms, and outdoor areas
  • Use hand tools and assigned powered and non-powered equipment safely and correctly
  • Keep GTCC buildings and facilities in “like-new” condition
  • Ensure restrooms are clean, sanitary, and fully functional at all times
  • Maintain cabañas and guest-use facilities to established standards
  • Assist with beach cleaning and grounds maintenance as required
  • Assist with line handling operations during ship docking, when needed
  • Identify maintenance needs and promptly report required repairs to the Maintenance Manager
  • Recommend external repairs or specialized services when issues exceed the Maintenance Team’s scope
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the Maintenance Manager
  • Comply with all policies, procedures, and standards established by the Grand Turk Cruise Center
  • Deliver superior customer service and represent the Turks and Caicos Islands with professionalism and pride
  • Perform any other business-related tasks as directed by the Employer   the

Job Requirements

  • Basic formal education
  • General knowledge of maintenance disciplines, including plumbing, landscaping, and waste management
  • Basic customer service skills and a guest-oriented mindset
  • Ability to work effectively in outdoor environments and varying weather conditions
  • Basic understanding of hand tools and electrical tools
  • Ability to follow instructions and work independently or as part of a team

Language Requirements

  • Ability to speak English clearly, distinctly, and courteously with guests and employees
  • Ability to read and write English to understand procedures, complete tasks, and follow written and verbal instructions
  • Ability to effectively communicate information and respond to questions from guests, managers, and co-workers

Physical Requirements

  • Regularly required to stand, walk, reach, bend, and use hands and arms
  • Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds regularly
  • Required visual abilities include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus
  • Ability to hear and speak clearly to communicate effectively
  • Must be physically capable of participating in emergency response and lifesaving drills

Full range of motion of arms and legs and full visual, verbal, and auditory capabilities required to receive and give instructions in emergency situations
