We’re looking for an amazing Superintendent professional to fill this role, which is based in our Anchorage office. You’ll be responsible for our railcar fleet maintenance, specifications and compliance. This role involves managing maintenance processes and policies, monitoring and resolving technical problems, establishing technician and maintenance team training and certification requirements, and assists with budget preparation and financial analysis. You will work closely with Anchorage Rail operations to effectively specify and maintain rail cars that meet safety, guest and operational requirements. You will also oversee maintenance, capital projects, and compliance in and at all railcar maintenance facilities and including the Whittier Terminal.

Responsibilities
- Rail Car maintenance oversight, tracking, procedure verification and follow-up.
- Resolving technical problems.
- Verify rail cars specification and deployment were acquired in training have transferred to the workplace and leverage existing data for comparison, trending, and other analytics.
- Ensure the training is being assigned to appropriate employee groups and verify that learners are completing their assigned training.
- Facility maintenance oversight, compliance review, coordination with maintenance teams and contractors.
- Solve complex compliance issues by reviewing training alignment and conducting risk assessments. Involves complex analysis of data & information, research, and anticipation of challenges that may have an impact on the business.
- Adheres to Corporate Policies and Procedures, including Code of Conduct, Audit Procedures and any control related responsibility for financial data entered, stored, or reported via business systems within employee’s control (list not exhaustive).
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Transportation, Logistics, Business Administration, or a technical institute program.
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience managing a passenger rail car maintenance program and repair facility and compliance.
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a technician role in a passenger rail car maintenance facility.
- Demonstrates advanced collaboration skills to coordinate across divisions and departments, developing maintenance and deployment strategies that support compliance, safety, guest experience, and operational efficiency.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Holland America Line/Princess is unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of employment visas at this time (e.g., H-1B status).
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Understanding of FRA CFR 238 regulations as they apply to passenger rail car maintenance, operations, and safety.
- Proficient in the use of computerized maintenance systems (RTA) and Microsoft computer business applications.
- Certification in compliance or ethics training is preferred.
- Understanding of workplace policies and procedures.
- Familiarity with team collaboration tools and techniques.
- Strong time management and organizational skills.
- Capacity to be punctual and meet deadlines.
- Ability to maintain reliable and consistent attendance.
- Ability to clearly communicate verbally and in writing will all levels of team members, divisions, and suppliers/vendors.
- Ability to support and comply with company policies, procedures and guidelines including support and comply with company health and safety standards.
- The work is performed in an office environment during company established work hours and workdays. The schedule may vary and include weekends, evenings or early mornings and extended hours according to business needs.
