CSMART is looking for an experienced maritime professional to join our Nautical Department as an Instructor, Advanced Maritime Nautical Training.
This role is ideal for an experienced nautical officer who combines strong operational expertise with a passion for developing others. As part of the CSMART team, you will support the professional development of shipboard officers across Carnival Corporation operating lines through classroom, simulator-based, practical and experiential training.
You will contribute to the delivery of our Officer Career Pathway (OCP) programs and broader Nautical training portfolio, helping officers develop the technical knowledge, operational competence and professional behaviours required for safe and effective shipboard
Key responsibilities
- Deliver and facilitate nautical training programs, workshops and simulator exercises.
- Conduct classroom, simulator-based and practical training activities.
- Support participant development through coaching, mentoring, feedback and assessment activities.
- Assess participant performance and provide objective feedback and structured debriefings.
- Contribute to course review, development and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Maintain technical and instructional competence through professional development and shipboard familiarisation.
- Stay current with maritime regulations, operational best practices, emerging technologies and Carnival procedures.
- Act as a role model by promoting Carnival Corporation Core Values and fostering a culture of safety, integrity, collaboration and continuous improvement.
- Support training delivery in classrooms, simulators, dedicated training facilities, outdoor environments and specialised training rigs where required.
Requirements & Experience
- Significant operational experience in a nautical officer role within the cruise industry or a comparable maritime environment.
- Experience as Captain/Master, Pilot, Staff Captain, Chief Officer, Senior First Officer, Safety Officer or First Officer is highly desirable.
- Strong knowledge of navigation, bridge operations, ship handling and maritime safety practices.
- Experience operating in a complex, multicultural shipboard environment.
- Fluent written and spoken English.
- Experience on podded-propulsion vessels or advanced ship-handling experience is considered an advantage.
- Previous teaching, facilitation, assessment or simulator instructor experience is beneficial, but not essential.
Skills
- Proficient in Microsoft 365 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and knowledgeable about computers and network software.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; able to effectively convey information.
- Ability to navigate complex social dynamics and work well in multicultural team environments.
- Demonstrates a growth mindset and passion for developing others.
- Works well independently and as part of a team.
- Open, engaged, and committed to continuous learning and improvement.
Selection Process
